Quietly Dying

You would think as a community, we would be outraged at the fact that the number of killings that occurred in our nation last year. According to article written by Robert Moran in the Philadelphia Inquirer:

Lawrence W. Sherman, a criminologist at the University of Pennsylvania, pointed out that the nearly 17,000 slayings last year in the United States far exceeds the combined death tolls of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks and American military casualties in Iraq.

The killings continues almost unnoticed this year. The killings in many cities are not deterred by the fact that they are led by some African-American mayors or policed by African-American sheriffs. New Jersey Mayor,Cory Booker has not closed his eyes to the growing violence that is happening in many communities.
