LED Signs

According to some applicants who failed to describe their type of signage before they were put up. Failing to disclose that they were using LED signage, these signs are illegal and should be fined.

However, because procedures were not clear, some applicants were unaware they were committing illegal action. Therefore, a moratorium is being requested to be granted by Mayor Graham Richards for all current violators, until a new ordinance can be drafted with clear directives.

Of course leading the charge for the rewriting of the law is Council person John Crawford, who is putting together a team of 20 or more folks. But this committee with revamp the outmoded ordinance that is rewarding bad behavior. For those who erected illegal signage, they will not be required to tear down the signes nor will the be fined. So to resolve the issue and prevent more illegal signage, a closer monitoring of the applicants should take place. This should allow only those who can meet the hardship or practical difficulty test for a variance to erect a sign.

Issues JUST like this would NEVER come up had the City Council decided to do AS THEY HAD SAID...and revamp the ENTIRE city ordinance book.
But that was "promised" over 3 YEARS ago....(pssst...we're still waitng)!
Seems they want to revamp the book ONE ordinance at a time...per YEAR.
At that rate...we might have ALL of the up to date ordinances by the year 2047!!
    (maybe)

    ;)
