Young School-Age Bloggers are being censored
IndyStar is reporting that schools are cracking down on students bloggers making offensive comments about students and teachers. In several states students bloggers have been penalized for typing negative things about their schools on personal web logs. Hmmm, do children not have the right to express themselves? I agree that if students are using their blogs to torment or harrass other students or teachers, they should be held liable in a court of law.

If it's offensive about the school or other students they need a warning. If they do it again, punishment.
ReplyDeleteIf it's just commentary, no punishment but who's to decide that? If rules like that were in place for blogs like this one you'd be getting the paddle every day and I would be the first in line to hand out the punishment.
Your arrogants show more and more each day. But, just for the record, if you rised a paddle as action, I would own every letter in your name. You are not that brave, you are such a coward that you use others name.
ReplyDeleteA veiled threat can be viewed as a threat even under someone elses name. I suggest you be a little more specific, if you are brave enough.
The law states different from your comment, had you read the article you would have known that. But, you are so bent on attacking me, you missed it.
Arrogants? hey they are a great band! Try f7 next time.
ReplyDeleteMore and more? I just found this sorry excuse for a blog but whatever..... How is this for specific? I would paddle your ass with great delight if i had the chance. Might even make you wear a ball gag whilst I perform the dirty deed. Of course you'd have to be consenting.
Not brave enough to sign your name..it takes courage to stand on your words...where is your courage.
ReplyDeleteChildren punished in a court of law for voicing (typing) their opinion? You have got to be kidding me! Yes the schools and parents should deal with the kids, parents actually need to be monitoring very closely what their children are doing online, I do.
ReplyDeleteBlogs, (and the internet in general) are the natural extension of school newspapers, and anything that can be called libelous, slanderous, harassing, intimidating, or just plain vulgar should be AT LEAST monitored for content AS WELL AS intent...and sensored or withdrawn when deemed necessary.
ReplyDeleteExample: Telling a person to merely "go to hell" is one thing...explaining it to them in such as way so they'll "enjoy the ride" is quite the other.
Individual interpretation and perception can either damn up the river of our written language or open up the floodgates.
If someone writes or types it, then THEY are the ones held RESPONSIBLE...and should be man or woman enough to own up to it....very simple concept.
Just wish more prefessional JOURNALISTS thought that way...heh, heh, heh.
