A community to discuss SOB and Not Just about Baseball

Mayoral candidate Matt Kelty speaks out again against the impact of Sexual Oriented Businesses on communities. Also Kelty spoke about the public right to speak out about such businesses with WOWO Charley Butcher. Kelty announced a meeting will be held in the summit city with community leaders coming together to discuss the issue of SOB. The meeting is open to the public.

Matt Kelty convenes leaders to discuss the effect of Sexually Oriented Businesses upon the families of Fort Wayne

FORT WAYNE—Matt Kelty has convened the Fort Wayne Family Health and Decency Summit to examine and better understand the effects of Sexually Oriented Businesses in the city of Fort Wayne, once known as the “City of Churches.” The summit will occur on Friday, March 16, 2007 at 9:00 a.m. at Hall’s Guesthouse, 1313 West Washington Center Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46825, (260) 489-2524.


Kelty will deliver introductory remarks and the event will be moderated by Cathie Humbarger, a concerned resident and renowned advocate for family-friendly public policy. Panelists will present perspectives addressing the various ways that Sexually Oriented Businesses affect a community in terms of crime, health, economic development and a variety of social pathologies. The panelists will focus on ways that balance the rights of free speech as defined by the U.S. Supreme Court with a community’s interest in developing a culture of life and prosperity.

Each panelist will offer introductory remarks 5-8 minutes in length and the panel will then be asked to comment on several directed questions. An open discussion involving questions of the public and the media will ensue. Kelty will provide closing remarks.
