Harrison Square Park Fan coming soon to downtown
Don't expect for any public comments when the Harrison Square Park goes before City Council. I don't think they care what the public has to say, their only interested in the call, Let's play ball.
Anon: There were staged public opinions by plants. Workers for the mayor, folks who would benefit from the projects, staged meetings with their members.
These were really educational meeting for folks who were dumber than a box of rocks. They were massaged with incorrect information. They believed they were speaking out for truth, justice for all.
But now they are stucked, to stubborn to admit they were lied to, by all people, their so called FRiends.
So now a real public meeting is axed because council does not want the real public who are intellect people to bother them with facts. They never wanted facts they wanted hardball money.
What are they afraid us? Council Person Shoaff killed the misinformed and misinformation groupies (supposedly all in the know folks) with one single presentation.
Sam couldn't handled anymore truth, it just might give him a heart attack.
By the way, could you post your current taxes for the year. So next year we can compare the increase?
Thanks for replying to me.. I went to one of the meetings - I can attest that the people in attendance were, from the ones I met, very sincere (on both sides of the debate, pro and con).
The bottom line for me, is that I am all for the ballpark downtown, regardless if taxpayer money is spent for it. I think it is all part of a web. The library is awesome; I love the new library. (Unfortunately, I now owe more in late fees!). Having these improvements downtown I think will add to the overall appeal, so that the downtown itself can be seen as a destination, with a lot of options available.
Anything that will be done downtown will have its critics, so it doesn't shock me that there are those opposed to the ballpark downtown. If it was a skating rink, as some desire, then there would be a whole contingent of people that would oppose it. Same with a water park, etc.
As an aside, I am looking into buying a building downtown - I want to be part of helping downtown become even more vibrant. I don't know or have any guarantee that Harrison Park will work they way it is intended - but I am willing to take a risk. I really like Fort Wayne, and I want to make it better than it already is. Please don't paint those of us that support something like Harrison Square as stupid, gullible, or corrupt - it simply isn't true - and there is room for disagreement without one side or the other being the "bad guy".

These folks (THE DUMBER THAN A BOX OF ROCKS)were the 'spokepersons" marketing the product (baseball) and they were dumber than a rock about the product! Not taking back my words.
You want the baseball park no matter what. I could care less. I am not a baseball fan. But, my property tax will increase. So, I suggest a better place in which to spend my tax dollars.
But folks were trying to tell folks who opposed the baseball stadium that they did not have their facts. Newspaper article after article proved that the dumber than rock groupies were the ones who did not have their facts, straight.
And Council Schoaff put the icing on the cake with his presentation.
I applaud you that you have investment dollars to buy a building downtown. I just can't figure out just where you're going to get a good deal at this point in time.
Third, have you checked out all the new businesses that are all ready downtown and their foot traffic?
Fourth, many of the folks who are trying to get folks to use their own money to invest money are starting up nonprofit businesses.
A total surprise in the invest downtown movement, elected official retiring on the public tax dollars.
I can only offer a different perspective on this blog. I suggest folks ask questions of those who make decisions on our behalf but without our input and I challenge those who are in leadership position to lead with honesty and integrity.
Thank you for reading..good luck on your investment.
Not interested in what the public has to say? It seems everywhere I turn there is yet another public meeting on Harrison Square.
ReplyDeleteI am all for it, so my viewpoint may be biased, but it seems to me that enough talk has gone on, it is time for action.
