The wife of Allen County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Steve Stone was arrested early Monday on charges of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and appeared in Huntington Superior Court later in the morning. While Huntington County sheriff’s deputy David McVoy was taking Stone’s wife into custody, Stone repeatedly asked him to “handle (it) differently,” the police report said.
And while Huntington County jail officers were preparing paperwork for a blood test to determine her level of intoxication, several Allen County deputies called the jail. Some of the calls were “not very friendly,” according to a police report, which does not identify the officers that called.
Stone described his statements as the “excited utterances” of a concerned husband as he watched his wife being handcuffed and put in the back of a police car.
Monday evening, Fries said he will conduct an internal investigation into the officers’ behavior.
excited utterances or dying declaration?
Did you know that Markos Moulitsas (DailyKos) wrote an editorial against gay service in the military?
ReplyDeleteMarkos said,
"the demands and pressures of military life are incompatible with allowing integration with homosexuals."
And Markos was successful. Bill Clinton was forced to rescind his program to allow gays to serve in the military.
If you don't think someone like this should be running the Democratic Party, then please forward this information to people who support gay rights and who oppose homophobic and other kinds of bigotry.

what happens in the GOP stays in the GOP? Although I dont agree with most alcohol laws- they are still the laws of the land. Sgt. Stone is a Marine Veteran, and served so we could be free to drink and drive home, as long as nobody gets hurt, or nothing is damaged. Current Police laws are now only about the money. The Officers should have the ability to have a motorist park a car, some where safe, and offer them a courtesye ride home, or to a phone, where they can call for a ride. this common sense policy gets the driver off the street for the night, and frees up precious police time, money, and court resources for more dangerous criminals- such as murderers, robbers, baby rapers, and other dirtballs. So whats wrong with a little professional courtesye for a Marine veteran, and Police officer; who would likely give an ordinary citizen a break.
ReplyDeleteunless you have had you night ruined by making a mistake, you can hardly imagine the trouble an owi can cause for an otherwise outstanding citizen.
and what of host liability laws? we need to educate everybody on the laws better- bars, night clubs, hosts of parties. .08- its the law. dont drink and drive.
jump though the hoops, accept the consequences, and "go forth and sin no more".
freedom, and liberty. what a novel concept.
The Marine knew his wife was drunk. They both should have rode home in a cab or called a friend.
ReplyDeleteThe Marine is an officer of the law, he can not bend them willy-nilly. He tried to get a break for his wife..consequence of her action was not the lesson being taught.
Mistake happens, but the ordinary citizens are not normally allowed and opportunity to make a mistake and not be called on it.
