I'm relatively new to Ft. Wayne, but I have to say something about this "dumbest city" in the U.S. thing...As a new resident, when I heard about this, as always, I did some google research and found that the source of the data that supports this title is, in fact, not supporting it at all! If I remember correctly, it was a men's magazine (I researched this almost 2 years ago, so can't remember the exact magazine) that ranked America's top 100 Smartest Cities. The survey used as criteria the ratio of # colleges and universities to population, and industry among other things. Fort Wayne was last on the list - but how that get's interpreted as the dumbest city in the U.S. will always boggle my mind...But here is the point you miss: there are definitely MORE than 100 cities in the U.S.! Ok...I don't know how many MORE cities there are, but the correct conclusion should be drawn that Ft. Wayne is one of the top 100 Smartest Cities in the U.S. (at least when this survey report was revealed):). But the way you interpret data about your own city makes me wonder...
Incidentally, I moved from a city that could be ranked as the Dumbest - Detroit. I don't care what the data shows...I have plenty of annectdotal evidence to support that observation :). Compared to the folkes there, the people in Ft. Wayne reign supreme - so give yourselves a break!
O.K.,
