Julia Carson Grandson inherits the Throne

The late Julia Carson who served the 7th Congressional District of Indiana, it could be said, is dancing in her grave. Carson's wish for her grandson, Andre Carson to replace her as a United States representative has come true.

Andre Carson has won the right to fill the vacancy left from the death of his grandmother during a special election on March 11, 2008.

Although Carson has not expressed any plans, his win brings controversy. Carson's brings with him baggage that will not sit well with some in conservative Indiana. It is well known that the fact that Carson is a Muslim and the grandson of Julia Carson will cause some to watch every move that he makes as the representative of the district.

But the root of the disdain goes even deeper, the fact that Carson is a young African-American male who is somewhat connected to the Nation of Islam leader, is way too much Louis Farrakhan, and clouds Carson's worthiness of the political seat. Moreover, Carson will soon have to make a decision that will create even more opponents. This time, the dissenters will coming from his own party. Folks will be waiting to see who Carson will throw his support behind, United State Senator Hilliary Clinton or Barack Obama, since Carson will hold the power of a Superdelegate.

Carson is waffling at this time and has not publicly made a statement has who he will support in the presidential nomination. The only other African-American Indiana superdelegate, Cordelia Lewis-Burks has already thrown her support behind Barack Obama.

It would appear that it would be a no-brainer at this point for Carson's selection with Farrakhan endorsing Obama. Nevertheless, this is Indiana Democrats that only represents the will of raced whites Democrats unless they are willing to stand alone such as the late Julia Carson, not withstanding neither Clinton or Barack attended the funeral of late Julia Carson.
