D-Day for Obama

Senator Barack Obama has sent the message time and time again that he's electable. But the Democratic Party refuse to listen, especially Senator Hillary Clinton. So today, taking no prison the final call will go out to the leader of the Democratic Party Howard Dean, its time to select Senator Barack Obama the clear winner. If Obama does not take Indiana, it will be be close and Obama will surely storm North Carolina with an impressive win.

Obama has done the unthinkable, an African-American will top the ticket as a candidate of these United States. And this historic event will take place during my lifetime. Who would of thunk it?

I headed out yesterday with my three month of grandson, to place my absentee ballot in the mail. I paid over $16.00 to have my vote count. One day, I will be able to tell my grandson, hey, you were just a baby when I voted for an African-American who ran to become President of these United States.

All these years, I look back on my Grandfather, Henry Dowdell, Sr. ritual of voting. At first, I could not wait to participate in the electoral process, until, I began to understand that the party of my Grandfather was taking the African-American vote for granted. And crossing over to the Republican Party left feeling of betrayal to the African-American community.

I would declare myself an independent, not belonging to any party. My voting for Obama or other candidates on the Democratic ticket does not make me a Democrat. Voting for Barack, embodies what it means about the power of the vote.

I may have given up on the traditional parties, but I still believe in the power of one vote. Go Obama and Hillary it time for you to surrender your flag.
