Only five days away, and Indiana's Hoosiers could determine who will appear on the Democrat ballot for President of the United States. There is a good chance that the candidate will be an African-American, Senator Barack Obama. Considering the long history of Indiana racial intolerance, the automatic choice one would believe it would have been Senator Hillary Clinton. Even a blowout, with the early endorsement by Indiana's native son, Senator Evan Bayh. But it may not be. Hoosier voters with have the opportunity to test which way the wind will blow on May 6, 2008.
There is a wind of change blowing in Indiana. Hoosiers are seeing their children being deployed and little change of coming back to find work in a State with a high foreclosure rate. Hoosier voters want to send a message to government that government is failing its citizens. Even Indiana leadership is seeking a change, with former Indiana Democratic National Committee Chair Joe Andrews switching his choice from Hillary to Barack. Andrews suggest its for the good of the party. Hillary is spending up her war chest trying to beat Obama.
But some Republican Hoosiers are attempting to control the Democratic outcome, by switching parties to select Hillary. Indiana is one state that has an open primary, allowing voters to determine who will run against their party's choice. These Hoosiers believe Republican Senator John McCain has a better change of winning against Hillary than the grass root choice of Barack. The media is playing an important role in it mass appeal by getting out the message that Hillary should be the Democrats' choice to over Obama grass root supporters on the ground message.
Fort Wayne Journal-Gazette newspaper editorial choice is Hillary over Barack. The argument, weak as dirty dish water, sends a message to the reading voters that the flaws of Hillary are known to the public whereas Obama's flaws are unknown. In the blogosphere, you will find AdvanceIndiana listing groups using the tactic of republicans turning out to vote for "Hillary's our man" over the candidacy of Obama.
Only five days to go to determine if Hoosiers seals the deal for Obama
