Senator John McCain went where Senator Barack Obama Wouldn't

In my life time, I never believed that an African-American would be nominated for the president of the United States. But on August 28, 2008, the forty-fifth anniversary of the March on Washington, an African-American male was nominated by the Democratic party, Senator Barack Obama.

But Senator Obama missed another earlier August 28, the woman's right to vote as he dissed Senator Hillary Clinton. In 1917 women right activist protested their right to vote. Women who were disappointed that their dream to see a woman nominated for president saw their dream dissolve as Obama win this race. But Obama did one step further in dismissing these women dream, when he failed to name Hillary as his V.P.

Nevertheless, a day late, Senator John McCain after hearing Hillary concession speech on the defeat of the 18 million voices, answered Hillary never give up, with a woman candidate for vice-president of the United States.

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, a working mother of five.

McCain may have called his wife name and left her to raise his children, but he is giving Hillary supporter the next best thing, the first female governor of Alaska a chance to run against an African-American.

Abigail Adams would be so proud..as the patriot on his seventy-second birthday remembers to remember the ladies.

ABIGAIL ADAMS TO JOHN ADAMS March 31, 1776:

"I long to hear that you have declared an independency. And, by the way, in the new code of laws which I suppose it will be necessary for you to make, I desire you would remember the ladies and be more generous and favorable to them than your ancestors.

"Do not put such unlimited power into the hands of the husbands.

"Remember, all men would be tyrants if they could. If particular care and attention is not paid to the ladies, we are determined to foment a rebellion, and will not hold ourselves bound by any laws in which we have no voice or representation.

"That your sex are naturally tyrannical is a truth so thoroughly established as to admit of no dispute; but such of you as wish to be happy willingly give up -- the harsh tide of master for the more tender and endearing one of friend.

"Why, then, not put it out of the power of the vicious and the lawless to use us with cruelty and indignity with impunity?

"Men of sense in all ages abhor those customs which treat us only as the (servants) of your sex; regard us then as being placed by Providence under your protection, and in imitation of the Supreme Being make use of that power only for our happiness."

  1. I am surfing around to see the reaction of McCain's choice.Your post makes me consider, maybe the womans vote could go to a pro life ticket, as opposed to a black candidate.
I think McCain choice shows poor judgement and will insult many women. Thanks for a compelling stance

  2. This is not only a pro life issue but also a race and gender issue in McCain choice.

I am waiting for the Hillary interview on this pick.
