The new state's cap on stealing money from property owners appears to have shrunk the Allen County's budget. Wow, 1.5 percent cap on property's value has placed a screening halt on the increased revenue for the budget folks. Just imagine just how much that budget would have shrunk if the assessors had not artificially increased many of the homeowners property value !!!!
The local folks will stash away $2.8 million dollars for 2010. Is this money from the folks who paid their bill twice from the mailing of those confusing tax bills? Yep, $2.8 million...or more...sounds like they were able to bite the bullet this go round.
Of course the local officials are still trying to steer the blame of increase in the property values which is the real reason for the increase in property taxes on poor folks. When in fact, these liars have to try to keep the folks who cooked the books on the payroll. Or they just might become whistle blowers. Wouldn't that be nice for the taxpayers of Allen County?

ReplyDeleteYou were way ahead on this issue. It may take a few years, but the revenue numbers are really going to shrink when the assessed values are no longer inflated by "trending" from a time when bogus appraisals and predatory loans were rampant. I'm looking for a 20 to 30 percent drop in assessed values for residential property in middle income and lower areas.
The shame is all those homeowners will never get back the extra they were charged based on fraudulent "comparables."
