GM has the Volt out in the automobile market. This electric car is to go 40 miles on an electric battery and up to 230 mile per gallon with gasoline assistance. GM Vice chairman Bob Lutz suggest on CNN that is enough to justify the hefty $40,000 price tag.
Lutz,( old school 72 years old) in essence is suggesting by being the first provides GM an opportunity to milk environmental conscious consumers. In other words, if this what consumers want than they will have to pay the high cost of producing such a product.
The American consumer and other global supporters should avoid supporting GM in their drive to make money rather than product an economical and efficient vehicle.
I don't think that's too much to ask from the comppany that the Americans consumers helped bail out. At least Henry Ford cared about who purchased his cars and left milking to farmers.
What greeners really want to know what is the electric rate to compare the cost of operating an electric car when comparing to the cost of running a gas efficient vehicle?
