Rev. Michael Latham the cat with nine lives as started a new group. National African-American Founders’ District is the name of Latham's next project. This comes after Latham's recovery from yet another illness.
Rev. Latham and Victor L. Nelson and James Thomas formed the group after a racial incident involving students at a Marathon gas station on Hanna and Oxford. Rev. Latham felt the need to educate folks who are insensitive about contribution by African-Americans frrom Indiana. Rev. Latham and his other "trinity" partners' will travel to various cities in Indiana to establish landmarks in rememberance of their contributions.
But, education first starts at home, home being Fort Wayne, Indiana. Rev. Latham feels more freedom under the NAAFD umbrella than under the NAACP, for his activism. As a former President of the local NAACP, a civil right organization, Rev. Latham understands the local NAACP is governed by the National NAACP. Under his new organization, he is not restrained from acting upon injustices immediately. Rev. Latham will have to work with the state to get his organization recognized as a 501(c)3 for federal funding.
For now, Rev. Latham is working on getting his name registered with the State of Indiana. Just when you think, Rev. Latham is down for the final count, once again you found him making the news.
