Indiana 3rd District Congressperson Mark Souder Resigns

Mark Souder has resigned his seat as representative for the United States 3rd district in Northeast Indiana. Although, his win against newcomer Bob Thomas, another Republican, Souder will not represent his party on the ballot. The voters will have to now wait for Governor Mitch Daniels to call for a special election for Souder's replacement.

With the eight time winner of the United States House of Representative seat, Souder, out of the way, Democrat Tom Hayhurst, a former Fort Wayne city councilman may be the person to beat in the upcoming election. Hayhurst in 2006 lost to Souder while getting over 46% of the votes.
