Bobby Knight steps down from his Texas Tech coaching position and passes the job onto his son, Pat Knight. Ain't that America, reminds you a little bit about the Bush fathter and son tag team, huh? Knight is known as the winningest divison I basketball coach. But Knight is known in Indiana not only for his coaching skills but also for his lack of anger management as reported by Rivals.com:
"Knight perhaps is as well-known for his temper and behavior as he is for his win total. He was fired at Indiana on Sept. 10, 2000, by then-IU president Myles Brand for what Brand termed a continuing pattern of "defiant and hostile" behavior."

I see a vision of tennis shoes ! no jobs..tennis shoes
Fort Wayne is a city for dreamers. Young folks and kiddies that's our theme. All geared towards the tourists,of course, not our children, to say what a great city we have here !! The 7' 4" tennis shoes arrived just in time to test them out on our young folks during spring break. No chocolate Jesus here.
The giant sneakers will pitter patter their way into our big Allen County Public Library and pose for awhile. By summertime the tennies will have made their way to our big park, Headwaters in time for the summer festivals. Of course the high tops could not miss an opportunity to show up on the basketball court, Spiece Fieldhouse await them for the big American Youth Basketball Tour.

I posted about the sport shoes back in January parts of the post is below:
Sport shoes will be lining the streets of Fort Wayne, Indiana for part of the summer 2007. Fort Wayne/Allen County Convention and Visitors Bureau is selling their "Room for Dreams" logo with a "Team Dreams' theme fundraising event that involves shoes.
For the second straight year, the American Youth Basketball Tour and the United States Specialty Sports Association will hold their championships on various days from July 5 to July 30 at Spiece Fieldhouse and about 10 other area gymnasiums. The two organizations liked Fort Wayne so much they’re back with an expected 600 teams, 15,000 people and an estimated $6 million windfall.Read more on what another city did with the fiberglass shoes.

Fort Wayne Indiana South Sider makes Indiana All-Star Team
Sha'la Jackson
Many view the number 13 as unlucky. But for the 13 members of the 2007 Indianapolis Star Indiana Girls All-Star team, they can count that number lucky. And Sha' la Jackson is one among the thirteen high school girls basketball players selected to be a part of that team.
Jackson who played for Fort Wayne, Indiana South Side High School was one of the top Hoosier talents selected for the All Star team, according to Jeff Rabjohns of the Indystar.
The Indiana team will be gunning for a win against Kentucky.

FWAAIW salutes-Megan King
Megan King played basketball for Canterbury. That's all I can tell you. I heard about the young lady during a sport highlight on television. I was surprised to learn that her mother, who pointed in the story had cancer has left us. My heart breaks for Megan King. King's mother left behind a shining star and others who have followed her career will tell the story much better. Here, I simply note, Megan King makes us proud. According to News-Sentinel article
Sha'la Jackson
Sha’la Jackson of South Side, Megan King of Canterbury, Marceya Mingo of South Side, Rashida Ray of Harding and Jennifer Wall of New Haven have been named to the original list, which will be pared to a final list of 40 seniors.
Marceya Mingo
Those 40 girls, plus 10 participating alternates, will be invited to Hoosier Basketball magazine’s 26th annual Top 40 Workout on April 15 at Ben Davis High School
Fort Wayne Observed post a heartbreaking story about Megan King not being selected for the Indiana Basketball All-Star Team.
