A sign posted in a southside laundry caused a protest to take place on Allen County court house lawn. As reported in the local newspaper, the sign forbid Burmeses to use the facility, "The sign, which has since been removed, read, 'For Sanitary Purposes, There Are No Burmese People Allowed.' "
The owner of the laundry has offered up an apology via Youtube,
Shocking? No, what is shocking is the weak mouthed apology with customers in the background). Why didn't the owner go on the news' channels? Why was the employee blamed when it is the owner's establishment?
The owner is not dealing with folks who will show up today and be gone tomorrow.
First, the owner should sit down with the Burmese community and listen. Second, instead of the public relation cover up, the owner should make improvement to the laundry. Where is the NAACP when you need them? Oh, it wasn't an African-American ..but the Burmese are black..
Thanks from the bottom of my heart for the post and the article.

ReplyDeleteIt is my hope that the community band together to fight the issue of collective discrimination. It is long overdue.
