Is my sista white?

When my youngest daughter was very small, she asked me, was her sister white. I called my daughter and asked what did she mean, when she asked me about her sista being white? Geez twenty years ago, I asked you that question, she said, let it go. She finally stated that both of us were darker than my sister, and she knew no other fair skinned sista, maybe, she laughed. Right, I knew that was not why.

Another time, this same daughter called out to me, as she was playing with her nephew, watch this. She asked her nephew what color are you? He replied green. She asked him the question, again. He looked puzzled and looked down at his green shorts, and repeated green. I thought how long would it be before he asked the question, what color am I? Or how long before he was called the n---word. Who would protect him as he moved about the world?

Today, I ask myself, is my sistas white? When I enter a room with professional women who are so easily manipulated, in supporting the masterminding of stealing what little wealth that there is in our community. I think don't they know about :

First they came for the Jews, but I am not a Jew so I said nothing,
Then they came for the Catholics, but I am not a Catholic so I said nothing,
Then they came for the Unionists and Industrialists but I am neither so I said nothing. Now they are coming for me and ther is no-one left to say anything!

The original quote (on which the poem is based) :
When Hitler attacked the Jews I was not a Jew, therefore, I was not concerned.
And when Hitler attacked the Catholics, I was not a Catholic, and therefore I was not concerned.

And when Hitler attacked the unions and Industrialists, I was not a member of the unions and I was not concerned. Then Hitler attacked me and the Protestant church-and there was nobody left to be concerned...Martin Niemoller 1892-1984.

If Oprah has millions of dollars and experienced the direct attack of racism, how will they escape? If not them what about the legacy of unchallenged racism left for their children? Of course, I don't ask them directly, because they are professional women, bright, successful sistas, but not white.
