Fort Wayne Metro Pee Wee FootBall

Metro sports is about the youth or is it? Is that a Pepsi sign on the scoreboard? Does Metro get advertisement dollars for that? Metro does not like the taking it to the street vendors' self-initiative spirit supported by Kweku Akan and friends as reported in today's News-Sentinel. In the meantime here's some more pictures of football played by the youth.

The Pee Wee Lions beat Seminoles 20-6.

The ultimate winning team-brother and sister.

And that's the rest of the story.

I agree that the vendors should be allowed to sell their wares outside of the game. That's just 'free enterprise' at work.

In the same vein, I'm going to lease out the parking spaces in front of your home for 50 or so dollars a month. After all, they're on a public roadway, aren't they? Must be fair game, then. So what if you pay for the property, pay taxes on it, and pay for its maintenance and upkeep. As long as I'm not restricted from making a buck, it's a good thing, right?

Cmon. The Metro football people should use everything in their power to kick the freeloaders out, unless the freeloaders want to contribute something to the program. THAT's the American Way.

    Also, as an aside.....

Pepsi BOUGHT the scoreboard. That's why they're allowed to place an ad on it. At Snider, Ben Davis donated the money for the scoreboards. They say Ben Davis Chevy on those.

If you consider those advertising dollars, so be it. Maybe the barbecue vendors hijacking the money outside the program's walls can come up with enough cash for a bigger scoreboard next season...and put THEIR names on it instead.

    Just a thought.
