"The end of the NAACP's work will not be determined by the ascension of a select few to positions of power and influence but by the advancement of
people at the grassroots."NAACP President and CEO Benjamin Jealous
In 2009, the NAACP organization will turn 100 years old. Just before the NAACP's centennial birthday, the first African-American will become the United States President, Senator Barack Hussein Obama. What a time for celebration.
The NAACP has already got that party started with a membership drive. I00 days before the NAACP annual meeting will begin its 100 by 100 membership drive. Branches or units in different locales are encouraged to sell at least one membership for each day leading up the big annual meeting. Tomorrow, Friday, November 14th is the launching date for the membership drive.
These memberships are to be counted and sent to the National Headquarter by the closing date of February 20, 2009 during black history month.
How about that, they gave us a day, then a week then a month, and now we are going to get four years of black history. What say you Carter G. Woodson?
Truth comes to us from the past, then, like gold washed down from the mountains.
-Carter G. Woodson
