greatness.2. an award presented to an individual or individuals who demonstrate
a lifetime of service and achievement as exemplified in the spirit and tradition
of Dr. Dorothy Irene Height.
Each year the Uncommon Height Award is presented to the person or persons
who exemplify the spirit and tradition of Dr. Dorothy I. Height through a
lifetime of service to others. The award ceremony is a wonderful,
invitation-only gala event held in DC that features great speakers, food,
fellowship and entertainment. Many of the most notable African American
politicians, organization and business leaders, entertainers and media
personalities attend this exclusive event.
Proceeds from this Gala strengthen NCNW's capacity to meet critical needs,
empower women and ensure the realization of the legacy embodied by the National
Centers for African American Women and the Dorothy I. Height Leadership
Institute.
Past Uncommon Height honorees have included such distinguished individuals
as Dr. Dorothy I. Height, Bill and Camille Cosby, Maya Angelou and Quincy
Jones.
