When I first heard this story about a young African-American male having 21 children:
I closed my eyes and attempted to not hear the story. It seems Mr. Hatchett is only 29 years old. Eleven women, who did not protect themselves from HIV agreed to have children by Mr. Hachett. Of course the community is outraged at Mr. Hachett behavior. Mr. Hachett's unwillingness to wear a "rubber" condom will more than likely cost the taxpayers of Tennessee.
The sad fact, is that back in the 60's Daniel Moyhinan told he story about a young man without a job had nothing better to do than make babies. Moyhinan wrote a report, The Negro Family:The Case For National Action. Buried in the reprot was the fact that the African-American population was growing in the north. And to continue to discriminate against a group by not employing them will only contribute to more African-American males who would be willing to turn on America. Riots. The Moynihan Report was written shortly after the Watts riot. The Watts riot was blamed on African-Americans unemployed males having nothing better to do . And these are the same angry males who proved their male viability by having children without marriage. Children who would grow up poor and more angry African American male.
Hatchett is one of the poor and more angry African-American male. But instead of rioting, these young males grew up misogynists bullying and hating women. And this behavior is self destructive to communities that are dying from poverty. Many communities that are mostly single women, children and African-Americans. So when a Hatchett is allow to go unnoticed in such an environment, more women and children will suffer.
So we must educate the Mr. Hatchetts of the community that is not cool to father so many children even if he can find willing partners. Nor is it labeling such women who suffer from the behavior of sexist African-American males who label them stupid or naive. These women must learn to get enough education to provide for themselves and their children if they decide to have children as a single person. And these women must learn that because an African-Amrican males live in her community that does not mean he does not hate her for who she is as the weaker sex.
These are criminal acts if committed. And employing the Mr. Hatchett of the world so that he can provide money to these mothers will not prevent such behavior.
Mr. Hachett may have taken advantage of some of these young women. One lady was interviewed on the Tom Joyner's morning show (Zenobia on June 6) and stated she was 15 when she was impregnated by Mr. Hatchett. Therefore, if Mr. Hatchett had been turned in by some of these women, Mr. Hatchett would not have been able to continue to spray the community of Tennessee with his seeds. So I suggest that the focus should be on reporting sexual abuse that occur in our community. Sexual abuse that breed children born in extreme poverty.

It's hard to know what to do with so much misogyny, but one thing we can do is to put another woman on a US Supreme Court that is 78% white male.

To: Members of the US Senate
I strongly support and urge immediate Senate confirmation of President Barack Obama’s nominee for the US Supreme Court: “wise Latina woman”, Judge Sonia Sotomayor, who now sits on U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
At present, the US Supreme Court has nine members, of whom seven are white men. This is unfair and unbalanced. According to the US Census, the nation is less than 33% white male, while it is approximately 51% female, 15% Latino and 13% Black. Although white males are the minority of America, they remain the vast majority of the US Supreme Court, just as was the case before women and minorities gained the right to vote.
It is impossible in a pluralistic society for a Court comprised of 78% white men to make wise, reasoned and sound decisions affecting the lives of a nation which is less than 33% white male. A wise and just Supreme Court requires a diversity of experiences, with the participation of representatives of the majority of Americans.
For far too long, there has been a quota system at the United States Supreme Court. The de facto quota system required that all or the vast majority of the nine members of the Court be white males. In the history of the nation, there have never been more than three members of the court who were not white males at any one time. The anachronistic white male quota system is no longer tenable as the nation strives to treat all Americans equally and to have a government all of whose branches have the consent and participation of the nation’s diverse populace.
The US Supreme Court cannot function wisely, justly, and fairly without the full participation of wise women and wise members of the nation’s minority groups, including the nation’s largest minority – Latinos. Therefore, we urge our elected representatives in the US Senate to immediately confirm the “wise Latina woman” who has earned our respect and support: soon-to-be US Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor.
