Van Jones -NAACP President Image Award


The National Association for the Advancement of Color People (NAACP) will present the President award to Van Jones during it's image award ceremony. NAACP President Ben Jealous will do the honor on Friday, February 26, on FOX at 8:00pm Eastern / 7:00pm Central. Jones a former white house adviser is the co-founder of Green for All.

Since 1970, the NAACP Image award has recognized those individuals who embodies culture and artistic achievement toward the African-American family. NAACP press release:
"Van Jones embodies the spirit of the NAACP Image Awards -- an
entrepreneurial spirit that comes with a sense of social responsibility. His
plan to retool the American economy by creating millions of new "green collar"
jobs is groundbreaking, not only because it opens up a new sector of American
industry, but also because it opens up a new sector of American industry, but
also because it does so in a way that creates jobs and protects the
environment."

Jones, President Barack Obama former White House Council on Environmental Quality
adviser stepped down after critics found some of Jones' comments too offensive to hold a position in the White House. Nevertheless, after the controversy, Jones has revitalized himself with the Center For American Progress’s Green Opportunity Initiative, which will promote investment and jobs in clean energy. In addition Jones as a distinguished visiting fellow will serve one year at Princeton University's Center for African American Studies and Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs.

Jones, explained his highly controversial 9/11 comment on a recent appearance on the Tavis Smiley Show, and the challenge for science to promote change against the resistance from deep pocket.
