Tavis Smiley called out Al Sharpton and Charles Ogletree on the leading African-American radio show, the Tom Joyner Morning Show for a black agenda. Sharpton responded by challenging by accusing Smiley as still bruising from the refusal of President Barack Obama to attend Smiley's former State of the Union forum.
As the dust up began to settle, Smiley called Sharpton to continue the conversation on the need to discuss whether of not there should be a conversation on a black agenda. it seems as if Ogletree and Sharpton will be unable to attend Smiley's new roundup, We Count on March 20, 2010, of black folks speaking to the media about the needs of everyday common black folks. Smiley diss of Sharpton propped Sharpton on his radio show into calling Smiley a book selling Negro without civil right creds.
These are grown African-American males, some would go as far as to say role models. Was the conversation really about a black agenda or air time to sell Smiley's agenda? Think about it, Smiley on the popular TJMS ( who is a Obama supporter) dissing Sharpton and on the same day Sharpton has Smiley calling into his popular radio show.
Field Negro writes about this battle between the talking heads for the attention of mainstream media.
