SJR-7 Amendment to the Indiana Constitution -Dead

Advance Indiana is celebrating the death of SJR-7. SJR-7 would have constitutionally banned same sex marriage in the State of Indiana. Political parties on both sides voted the amendment down. The Democrats cited the fact that Indiana already had laws on the book banning same sex marriage. And Indiana Court of Appeal has ruled in favor of upholding the ban.

But to give Democrats a finger snap for voting down the amendment, I don't understand. Hey it was not because of the same sex ban that they voted against the resolution. It was that little tricky language that would have have robbed "keeping house couples" benefits, that carried the day.

That second paragraph screwed Indiana General Assembly from Constitutionally ousting same sex union off the land of Indiana. It was legal incidents of marriage that killed no amendment, not Democrats.

But I'm still voting for Obama. What the heck is the same sex community thinking?

Allen County Election Board Boots Potential Candidates.

On March 9, 2007, the Allen County Election Board booted James Talarico from running for city council at large. It seems that Talarico voted in the last election as a Democratic, but selected the republican ticket to declare his candidacy. With that last name Talarico was more than likely to draw a lot of votes. Talarico could have appeared on the ballot with the blessing of the Allen County Republican Chair, Steve Shine, but that did not happen.

The election board also decided that the City Council at-large candidate James Talarico and city clerk candidate Thomas Schrader would not be on the Republican primary ballot. Both had voted as Democrats most recently and had not received a certificate of support from Republican Party Chairman Steve Shine.

Side note here, Ron Buskirk declared his candidacy for the 5th district. Buskirk did not become a member of the 5th district until January, 2007. Which means that Buskirk will represent long term voters of the 5th district. Buskirk last voted in precinct 412. Buskirk has not vote in his new precinct 578, is this fair?

Another candidate who was booted from the pool of contenders was Thomas Schrader. Schrader running for city clerk was dismissed based on his voting record rather than his party affiliation. The Democratic leader Kevin Knuth, did not give a thumbs up to this candidate, and should have invited them into the party game. Now we fully understand Steve Shine assimilation into the money community did not accept these waffling gents. But it is still a questionable eyebrow raising event for Knuth to thumb his nose at any potential candidate for the Democratic Party.

I forgot the Democratic Party is about the less the merrier membership. This party gave us a Pat Love to screw property owners on their taxes. This woman was a stellar post child representative for the incompetent leadership driving the party. And by keeping the Democratic party cliche membership low, members don't have to share power. And members do not have to take inclusion, serious, either. (wink, wink). Or pushing for more jobs for African-Americans, they just need the African-American votes. Independently typing outloud, if it's not true, prove me wrong.

Where are the independent candidates? I understand there is one independent candidate who will be running for Mayor.

Mayor Richard you are not aligned..

Former NAACP president Bruce Gordon sent a memo to the NAACP National Board of Directors concerning its organization.

Gordon was obvious trying to get some communication going about the direction of the organization. Unfortunately, Gordon resigned from the organization.

Here in Fort Wayne Mayor Graham Richard will gather together some in the African-American Community to give directions to its members. The African-American community should give a thumbs down on the soundbites.

The community should take over the Democratic party and go in another direction. Barack Obama did it and he is one man! As former NAACP president Bruce Gordon told the NAACP:
I am willing to accept that our points of view regarding governance and strategic direction are in conflict. This is not about right or wrong…this is about difference. We can agree to disagree. We also could have found a way to blend the best of our respective points of view but in 19 months that did not happen
.

The African-American community should tell Mayor Richard, dang you had a much longer time to improve the African-American community. Moreover, Mayor Dick you can't stay in the room long enough with African-Americans to hear their respective points of view...you're definitely not aligned. Somebody needs to take him and Democratic party to task!

Hat tip to BlackProf and Afro-Netizen.

The city with Two Mayors-Elected and Unelected

is Kevin Knuth the unofficial Mayor of Fort Wayne Democrats clique ? How strange that a voter who steps up to run for Mayor is turned away! Sean Collentine is no stranger to the Democratic party. The Democrats need all the members they can get, but Kevin was not having it.

These folks won't be able to run for any political office, either.
The 4,300 residents in Fort Wayne’s Carroll Road annexation won’t become part of the city until Sept. 30, but that likely won’t keep them from voting in this May’s primary election.
, wrote Ben Lanka of the Fort Wayne.com. But the unofficial sidekick, and unofficial Democratic Deputy Mayor Andy Downs drops the bomb after the time for filing for candidacy has expired that yes these folks can vote. Yes they can vote.

And once again we understand why Fort Wayne is ranked the dumbest city in the United States

Is it the African-American Community or Democrat Party Leadership?

Found this on AdvanceIndiana. Gary Welsh, attempting to compare African-American oppressions with gay issues, you be the judge, favored as a little colorblind racism. Gary Welsh says:

"Spaulding is right to emphasize the role anti-gay bigotry in the Alabama's African-American community is playing in the Democratic Party's actions, and that this issue is being downplayed in the media coverage. You can bet that if a group of white Republicans had taken similar action against an African-American candidate, the news media would have played up the race issue big time."

"The question now is whether Alabama's state Democratic Party, with encouragement from the DNC, will step in and overrule the local party leader's actions. If they don't, then our U.S. Justice Department should do its job in enforcing the Voting Rights Act and overrule the local party's actions. Somebody needs to act quickly; otherewise, we're simply allowing a bunch of bigoted sore losers to make a mockery of the very laws which were created to ensure fair elections for minorities."

Cousin Jeff

Cousin Jeff, from BET is supporting Kenneth Blackwell. Blackwell, is an African-Americans running under the republican ticket. Cousin Jeff, raises an eyebrows in announcing his public support of Blackwell. As the Democrats and Republicans positions themselves to use high visible African-Americans to support their African-Americans candidates. Some are suggesting that even, Dr. Martin Luther, King, Jr. had to have been a Republican, coming from the south and being a Republican. Maybe, he came from a era that celebrated the Republicans for being a facilitator of the liberation of African-Americans. However, in King, Jr.s book, Why We Can't Wait, he suggest we embrace the idea of an independent party. Nevertheless, the question for many African-Americans voters is, will these candidates make a difference on policies impacting their communities.

I think not, I believe that the candidates who will make the different are those candidates at the local level. Those who are connected to the voters, at the grassroots levels, out there working in the community. Those candidates who have worked actively in knowing the voters needs in their community. These candidates can turn around the democratic or republican agenda at the grassroots level. However, as Dr. King, Jr. suggest an independent party will more than likely speed up this process. Lani Guiner, suggest that other join us in this process. If African-Americans could save the United States, surely we can save ourselves under an independent party.
