To accomplish or aid general charitable purposes and/or the construction and completion of any project or projects designed to benefit the general community of the area commonly known as metropolitan Fort Wayne (this area shall specifically include parts of Allen County not within the actual city limits of Fort Wayne, but generally determined by the Trustees to be within its metropolitan area).
Mrs. Auer also recommended the Foundation give particular consideration to charitable
organizations in which she showed an interest during her lifetime, including: Indiana
University – Purdue University Fort Wayne, the Fort Wayne Philharmonic Orchestra,
the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo, and the Allen County Public Library. The Foundation encourages collaboration between these and other nonprofit organizations. In general,Mrs. Auer’s interests included parks, music, arts, education, and other charitable purposes.
From the New-Sentinel:
The Edward D. and Ione Auer Foundation announced Thursday it will donate $1 million a year for 10 years - a combined total of $40 million - to four local organizations: Fort Wayne Children's Zoo, Allen County Public Library, Fort Wayne Philharmonic and Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne.
From me:
The purpose does not state exclusiveness to these four organizations. What other organizations did the trustees consider giving funds too? We know that the Zoo is as always in financial trouble. And if Ms. Auer wanted to bail out the zoo, you would think such a large grant would have occurred when she was alive but it didn't. These folks took $40 millions dollars from some folks who had a plan to do something good. The money was to be spend by a certain time and give such large chumps meets the timetable. But, I don't believe the purpose is being meet in giving to groups who should be self sustaining by now !!!!! Too bad the Auers did not give the money away when they were alive. Because other folks will just give to their friends as we can see.
This reminds me of the money stolen from students who attended Bunch Elementary. The funds ended up in the Fort Wayne Community Foundation, disclosed by one of the board members. Who by the way, still owes me a cheeseburger. Folks who have money, just remember the folks who sit on your boards may not have your best interest at heart, check out Olin B. & Desta Schwab . Has anyone made a call to the Attorney General Office. The McDonald Foundation saw straight through these folks.
