President Bush-Victory or Success

It will be neither, the clock is ticking and your time is running out. The best the President can do is to remove our troops starting the new year. This will be a political success by conceding to the fact that not enough or incorrect information diminished any chance for a military victory. Sorry Mr. President Bush you needed four more years in office to participate in the civil war in Iraq created by our military might.

Name calling -Sambo or the N-Word

Some folks skirt around using the N..Word to describe African-Americans instead they smugly use terms like Sambo. And some folks will blatantly use a caricature to emphasize their feeling about their views about certain African-Americans. And because they used a lesser derogatory term they think they are clever, in calling an African-American the N..Word in a more subtle way. These folks hang onto a racial hatred of the past that is shared among like thinking people in their private lives rather than their public expression.

Below you will find the story of little black sambo, which took place in India, and tells the tale of a person of color in India, that outsmarted some tigers and in doing so prevented the Tigers from eating him. And in the tigers' need to possess the property of someone else, they destroyed each other into butter for the little boy's family. The dark skinned character features have been has exaggerated to ridicule and make fun as a representations of Africans features, in a time when folks did not know any better. The story was written in 1899.

The Story of Little Black Sambo
By Helen Bannerman

PREFACE.

There is very little to say about the story of LITTLE BLACK
SAMBO. Once upon a time there was an English lady in India,
where black children abound and tigers are everyday affairs,
who had two little girls. To amuse these little girls she
used now and then to invent stories, for which, being
extremely talented, she also drew and coloured the pictures.
Among these stories LITTLE BLACK SAMBO, which was made up on a
long railway journey, was the favourite; and it has been put
into a DUMPY BOOK, and the pictures copies as exactly as
possible, in the hope that you will like it as much as the two
little girls did.

The Story of Little Black Sambo.

Once upon a time there was a little black boy, and his name
was Little Black Sambo.

And his mother was called Black Mumbo.

And his father was called Black Jumbo.

And Black Mumbo made him a beautiful little Red Coat, and a
pair of beautiful little blue trousers.

And Black Jumbo went to the Bazaar, and bought him a beautiful
Green Umbrella, and a lovely little Pair of Purple Shoes with
Crimson Soles and Crimson Linings.

And then wasn't Little Black Sambo grand?

So he put on all his Fine Clothes, and went out for a walk in
the Jungle. And by and by he met a Tiger. And the Tiger said
to him, "Little Black Sambo, I'm going to eat you up!" And
Little Black Sambo said, "Oh! Please Mr. Tiger, don't eat me
up, and I'll give you my beautiful little Red Coat." So the
Tiger said, "Very well, I won't eat you this time, but you
must give me your beautiful little Red Coat." So the Tiger
got poor Little Black Sambo's beautiful little Red Coat, and
went away saying, "Now I'm the grandest Tiger in the Jungle."

And Little Black Sambo went on, and by and by he met another
Tiger, and it said to him, "Little Black Sambo, I'm going to
eat you up!" And Little Black Sambo said, "Oh! Please Mr.
Tiger, don't eat me up, and I'll give you my beautiful little
Blue Trousers." So the Tiger said, "Very well, I won't eat
you this time, but you must give me your beautiful little Blue
Trousers." So the Tiger got poor Little Black Sambo's
beautiful little Blue Trousers, and went away saying, "Now I'm
the grandest Tiger in the Jungle."

And Little Black Sambo went on, and by and by he met another
Tiger, and it said to him, "Little Black Sambo, I'm going to
eat you up!" And Little Black Sambo said, "Oh! Please Mr.
Tiger, don't eat me up, and I'll give you my beautiful little
Purple Shoes with Crimson Soles and Crimson Linings."

But the Tiger said, "What use would your shoes be to me? I've
got four feet, and you've got only two; you haven't got enough
shoes for me."

But Little Black Sambo said, "You could wear them on your
ears."

"So I could," said the Tiger: "that's a very good idea. Give
them to me, and I won't eat you this time."

So the Tiger got poor Little Black Sambo's beautiful little
Purple Shoes with Crimson Soles and Crimson Linings, and went
away saying, "Now I'm the grandest Tiger in the Jungle."

And by and by Little Black Sambo met another Tiger, and it
said to him, "Little Black Sambo, I'm going to eat you up!"
And Little Black Sambo said, "Oh! Please Mr. Tiger, don't eat
me up, and I'll give you my beautiful Green Umbrella." But
the Tiger said, "How can I carry an umbrella, when I need all
my paws for walking with?"

"You could tie a knot on your tail and carry it that way,"
said Little Black Sambo. "So I could," said the Tiger."
Give it to me, and I won't eat you this time." So he got poor
Little Black Sambo's beautiful Green Umbrella, and went away
saying, "Now I'm the grandest Tiger in the Jungle."

And poor Little Black Sambo went away crying, because the
cruel Tigers had taken all his fine clothes.

Presently he heard a horrible noise that sounded like "Gr-r-r-
r-rrrrrr," and it got louder and louder. "Oh! dear!" said
Little Black Sambo, "there are all the Tigers coming back to
eat me up! What shall I do?" So he ran quickly to a palm-
tree, and peeped round it to see what the matter was.

And there he saw all the Tigers fighting, and disputing which
of them was the grandest. And at last they all got so angry
that they jumped up and took off all the fine clothes, and
began to tear each other with their claws, and bite each other
with their great big white teeth.

And they came, rolling and tumbling right to the foot of the
very tree where Little Black Sambo was hiding, but he jumped
quickly in behind the umbrella. And the Tigers all caught
hold of each other's tails, as they wrangled and scrambled,
and so they found themselves in a ring round the tree.

Then, when the Tigers were very wee and very far away, Little
Black Sambo jumped up, and called out, "Oh! Tigers! why have
you taken off all your nice clothes? Don't you want them any
more?" But the Tigers only answered, "Gr-r-rrrr!"

Then Little Black Sambo said, "If you want them, say so, or
I'll take them away." But the Tigers would not let go of each
other's tails, and so they could only say "Gr-r-r-rrrrrr!"

So Little Black Sambo put on all his fine clothes again and
walked off.

And the Tigers were very, very angry, but still they would not
let go of each other's tails. And they were so angry, that
they ran round the tree, trying to eat each other up, and they
ran faster and faster, till they were whirling round so fast
that you couldn't see their legs at all.

And they still ran faster and faster and faster, till they all
just melted away, and there was nothing left but a great big
pool of melted butter (or "ghi," as it is called in India)
round the foot of the tree.

Now Black Jumbo was just coming home from his work, with a
great big brass pot in his arms, and when he saw what was left
of all the Tigers he said, "Oh! what lovely melted butter!
I'll take that home to Black Mumbo for her to cook with."

So he put it all into the great big brass pot, and took it
home to Black Mumbo to cook with.

When Black Mumbo saw the melted butter, wasn't she pleased!
"Now," said she, "we'll all have pancakes for supper!"

So she got flour and eggs and milk and sugar and butter, and
she made a huge big plate of most lovely pancakes. And she
fried them in the melted butter which the Tigers had made, and
they were just as yellow and brown as little Tigers.

And then they all sat down to supper. And Black Mumbo ate
Twenty-seven pancakes, and Black Jumbo ate Fifty-five but
Little Black Sambo ate a Hundred and Sixty-nine, because he
was so hungry.

Laura Shine vs. Steve Shine

Well, it did not take a rocket scientist to know that the public battle in the Shine household was going to get ugly. If the fact, that an attorney filed an ex-parte order to oust his wife of 24 years from the marital, did not give a warning. Then the filing for divorce by the wife should have put to rest any doubt that not only was it going to get ugly but the media was going to do as much too distance itself from the mess. Some in the media would label the mess as not news worthy.

I beg to differ. Especially when the media had no problem reporting the statements by the leader of the pack, Steve Shines to sway the public in this private matter. A private matter that is until an investigation for allegation domestic violence charge was not recanted. Can you recant or would that be redact once it is reported? The media suggest that it was only a moment of tension, when a man snatching things from a wife,. Some in the media even suggest that it does not rise to the level of man b***hslapping his wife. In other words, if the hand did not touch the body than you must acquit.

Well guess what the wife has an sworn affivadit on file alleging some outrageous behavior that would give the public a moment pause about the king of spin for the Republican Party. And if there was ever the fear of wife getting to tell her version to the media, the ideal of her hiring an attorney who earlier sued him must have taken all the spit one could muster to swallow in order to catch a breathe. The sworn affidavit alleges that," petitioner has for quite some time intimidated me with psychological, emotional and verbal abuse,..." I refused to type the allegation about the minor.

There's more, " petitioner is engaged in frequent and routine drug use(specifically marijuana) and he is regularly under the influence of marijuana in the presence of the children." These and other statements were alleged in an emergency motion to support the wife request to dissolve the ex-parte order to a special judge. Now those were statements for dissolution of the protection order. There were other allegations of Bill Clintonism behavior of being unable tit be faithful to his wife.

But remember none of this stuff is news worthy and it probably too close to a lot of folks homes so probably won't make it to the 6:00 0'Clock news. But, if some of the statements are true, Laura Shine is in battle with more than her husband and I don't mean the children.

Guilty of JDWD

The judge was guilty of driving while drunk. If judges are above the law, don't you think they treat their friends the same?

Psst, Have I ever told you my footsteps are not ordered by man

I was just wondering, because folks don't understand what I mean about not being mean but I will step to the line for an accounting of who I am. That's right, so yesterday, I might have been a little sensitive with the jerking around that I got at the courthouse. But, give me a break, I was not seeking the keys to Gates house. Now these folks have real money and power. Nevertheless, I took to the bed. But today I just learned that a special judge is assigned to the Shine family's divorce. I was thinking no way would Michael Loomis, attorney for the wife would allow Stephens Sims or some other sitting Republican judge locally hear this powder keg.

So, I am off to find that file, so that I can read it for myself, and not have to rely on gossip, rumors, or outright lies. Or what is spooned fed to the media, and AWB I will probably stop at one of my favorite eatries, and enjoy some good rich chocolate. So hurry on down, sound like you need a good treat. Perhaps, you can see for yourself that I ain't nobody little Sambo. N'all on second thought, you need to just drop in on a Kwanzaa celebration that occurs after Christmas, starting December 26 to January 1. A celebration for reflecting on the previous year and for reflecting on how to make the new year better. You think?

But back to the courthouse, you folks are not the President. I understand you live in communities where you don't have to live with, speak to, or even acknowledge that African-Americans exist in your world. But,I am here to tell you that when you come to work you are going to see them, hear them and we don't care if you don't feel well or you are having a bad day. You ain't at home, so you need to act like you got some sense. Isn't that what you tell your children when they are out and about with civilized folks? I thought so, and that's what African-Americans tell grown folks who act like little children around us civilized folks. I was not born on bended knees nor my footsteps ordered, so recognize.

Hippy Hop to the courthouse.

Are you ready for the question? Is Douglas Foy a smoke screen to quiet a bigger fire?

The timing of criminal charges against Douglas Foy has a certain ring about it. It was bad enough for the man to lose his job, but I can't believe that he will sit mute facing over 30 years in prison for dumb political mess. Why has the prosecutor office sent forth charges against Douglas Foy at the same time when the Republican Party Chair is being investigated for possible criminal charges? I am sure that a plea bargain will lessen the sentence for Foy, but a day in prison for corrupt practices by a party is too harsh.

I reflect back below with earlier postings.
Advance Indiana points out Ben Lanka of the Journal-Gazette reports that forgery has occurred under the watch of the Allen County Election Board, Pam Findlayson. Not once, not twice but a dozen or more signatures for Republican candidates were forged. Doug Foy,respresenting the Republican party was alleged to be the culprit in the story. Foy is just the fall guy, the real culprit is the ploy embedded in the lack of checks and balances among the two party system here in Allen County.Read more.

The Democratic leadership is debating whether or not sufficient evidence is available to prove whether or not a criminal investigation is warranted. According to a story by Ben Lanka, Kevin Knuth is fledging outrage, while Andy Down is pondering or pandering over the issue in the media.Read more of this posting.

Now, wait just a minute. What is this farce, Douglas Foy is being thrown under the bus? What officials gave Foy, the extended time beyond the permissible time for filing declaratation of candidates? Do we really believe Foy was the only wrongdoer?

Interesting editorial exempting certain officials role in the wrongdoing, "Local voters can take some solace in knowing that a sharp-eyed election official detected apparently invalid signatures and that County Republican Chairman Steve Shine promptly and responsibly fired Foy when learning of the problem." More likely, the cover up was about to be blown. How incompetence do you have to be to not see the different between a signature that says Bob on one line and directly under a different signature, Robert? Read the rest of the posting.

Racialized when you enter the Allen County Court House in search of Laura Shine's Divoce Paper

When you enter the courthouse it not the most friendly environment. But when you ask folks who work there about stuff especially stuff they general know more about than the public, some will try to dismiss you. And when you ask them questions that they are unable to answer, ooh they get upset and will call the law on you as if they are scared of you. In other words your presence is now labeled as a threat. I think they should get some more folks of color in the place, myself. Some of the new bimbos don't realize I have worked in the system and I definitely know how it works. Sometimes, I forget, I am African-American who is not in the system when I walk up into this crazy place. Listen to Dr. Karenga explain this racialization.

Counting the days when Bush begins pulling out troops

Oh Georgie Boy will soon have to start pulling out the troops. Even the Iraq leader flip the President. Do can trust a liar..even if he is the President of the United States. Do we think Bush will resign like John Bolton the United Nations Ambassador for the United States?

Hate Crimes in Indiana

This story I found on AdvanceIndiana. It does not surprise me that Indiana does not have a hate crime law. This is the land of the KKK, it is hard to change the laws in a racialist community. Read story in the Northwest Indiana News

Too Quiet in the Blogosphere

This weekend was hot. First, I read on the blogosphere folks backing down on the domestic violence and protective order. I'm thinking wait a minute, I thought these were individual blogs and not representative of either party. Read this on Indiana Law Blog. No one is name callings or exaggerating the truth, what what? The truth of the matter, is that the bloggers have not posted anything that was not true. And that is based on the evidence, the protective order itself. In Saturday's paper, Steve Shine is quoted as having checked certain boxes on the ex-parte order. And on that order was several options to check and Shine checked only that he was a victim of domestic violence. But Shine did not stop there, Shine went on to describe two incidents. The two incidents had the date of the 12th and the 27th, nothing was described about the November 9th incident. On the blogosphere, the incident for the November 9th incident comes from a police log. Had it not been for the blogosphere addressing a concern that a cover up to keep the public from being the informed public they should be, the facts may not have never hit the light of day. No one is spreading rumors, gossips or rumors of rumor. This is totally different from what happens on the blog that calls me a SAMBO, other insults and specifically targets individuals with lies. No comparison. Read Nancy Nall blog on the Steve Shine incident.

Now turning to Evan Bayh, good luck for someone picking you for Vice-President, because there is no way you will be selected for President. I have stated this before, and I have seen nothing to change my mind. I understand that you believe that because your dad did something, and Indianapolis selected you for governor twice, that you could think this way. But, you are hanging out with the big boys and girls now, we are talking folks with brains, not local politics. You know where folks have the power to do favors for folks, wink wink. Nancy Pelosi has a better chance of becoming President. But it is a good to put your face out there for fundraising, to build up that kitty, Evan. It's better than that 21st Century program that you keep talking about.

And last but not least, I watched two exciting games over the weekend, USC and Tennessee. I'm still waiting for East Allen County Paul Harding big celebration..go Hawks.

NeighborWorks/Project Renew

Kathleen Quilligan of the News-Sentinel reports on the misdirection of nearly $630,000. An audit discovered the misdirected funds. Several staff members were dismissed. However, board members were not found to have failed to protect the interest of NeighborWorks investors. The internal investigation covers a period going all the way back to 2001. The board members had a fiduciary duty of oversight and may have cost the agency over $630,000. There is liability imposed when this duty is not carried out by the board members. Futhermore, action of wrongdoing should be reported to the proper officials, in that way the whole story comes out rather than those who are held up as the scapegoats. The story does not list the names of banks, partners, or the homebuyers who were involved. Sounds like another one for Attorney General Steven Carter, Fort Wayne has him hopping.

Signs of Abuse

Hypocrites ! Read in the journal-gazette. I have not seen or heard one so-called raced white woman speak out in the media about the Steve Shine ongoing saga. Hypocrites, who collect money and do little if any work to better the lives of women, just actors standing in the shadow of male privilege.

Steve Shine Ex-Parte Order for protection

Leo Morris states on his blog that it was just a little tension in the household..
So, what will Morris say about the new development of a protective order by a man against his loving wife?

Interesting, that it was and is the blogosphere that asked the questions that the media would not have because Steve Shine is concerned the big voice and the man with the Republican Party. The media definitely did not wanted to paint Shine in a bad light, these are his colleagues and friends. Just like I tell young folks, when a nice person does criminal acts, they have committed a criminal act. It does not matter that you like the person, its still a criminal act. A criminal is a criminal, just some are punished more severely than others. The news media determine which criminal life they will drag in the mud, and they are trying to keep a safe distance from Shine's mud.

Kevin Knuth erases his accusations from his Dem web, which should not have been there in the first place. If this was a website for the Democratic party, it should be used to highlight the accomplishments of the party. Knuth could have established a separate blog for the bickering between the two party leaders Besides what Shine does is not Knuth's problem, Knuth's problem is growing the party with competent folks.

If this family dispute was so tame, why did the family attorney file for a protective order?
Second why is the wife out of the house? Don't the Republican protect their virtuous women? The first one on the courthouse stairs it appears will set the tone of this dispute.

Shine files for protective order, after, "[n]early three weeks after police responded to a 911 call from his house to investigate an alleged domestic battery, Allen County Republican Party Chairman Steve Shine has filed for a protective order against his wife.

Shine, a family law attorney, filed the order Tuesday against Laura Beth Shine, according to Allen Superior Court documents. Shine, 54, declined comment, and his wife could not be reached for comment.

The protective order says Beth Shine, 51, must stay away from her husband and the Shines’ home in southwest Allen County. A hearing is scheduled Dec. 21 on the matter" according to the local brief."

The protective order was granted on November 28, 2006 and a hearing scheduled for December 21, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. The description of the incident was, "I was asleep in our bedroom when respondent without provocation etnered room ripped covers off bed, turned radio on as loud as possible began throwing things at me, broke personal property, grabed (sp) glass ashtray or container, threatend (sp) to hit me with it and kill me."

Question, how loud was the radio and how heavy was the ashtray?

On 11/27/ 2006 respondent emailed me renewing her threats, continues the desciption of incidents. Email was attached, but I will not repeat the exact words on this posting. However, the email was vague seeking the least hurtful way to resolve an issue.

A PROTECTIVE ORDER--why would Shine fear for his life and ban his wife from their children home? Or Steve Shine trying to get possession of the home? The order is good for two years.

Domestic Violence - Charitable Deduction before Tax Season

What does Domestic Violence have to do with filing taxes? Keep reading.
When filing your taxes, taxpayers sometime find it hard to decide which form to use among the 1040EZ, 1040A and 1040. Those tax filers, who have no adjustment to their income, could use 1040EZ. The 1040EZ is the simplest form. If tax filers cannot exceed the standard deduction allotted by the government based on a taxpayer filing status, the 1040A will probably serve their tax filing needs. The 1040A limits the types of deductions for taxpayer using this form. However, if tax filers’ deductions or certain types of expenses exceed the standard deduction, using the 1040 form will allow the taxpayer to itemize these expenses in order to reduce the taxpayer tax liability.

And it's still not too late to contribute to charitable organizations. Organizations like the National Housing Law Project would probably jump for joy to get a donation and at the same time the donation would be tax deductible. According to a recent mailing, “NHLP [l]ast year, assisted in drafting amendments to the federal Violence against Women Act to establish the housing rights of victims of domestic violence. The law now protects those who historically have faced the choice of fleeing abuse or retaining their homes by securing their rights to remain in the federally assisted housing programs.”

During the holiday season, stress can increase the incidents of domestic violence; it sure is nice to know there is an organization ready and willing to help those who need a friend during such a crisis.
Men even take pledges to stop violence against women, according to United States Department of Justice Website. "Men play an important role in our nation’s efforts to stop violence against women. All men have the opportunity to serve as role models for other men and boys in regards to the treatment of women and girls. Boys need to be taught at a young age that violence against women is wrong and will not be tolerated. Men are in a unique position to communicate this message in a strong, compassionate, and meaningful way. Working in partnership, men and women together can make enormous strides toward changing attitudes and perceptions around domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking, "

Stopping the violence is not a he says she says thing its' the law.

RED World AIDS Day--in the Spirit of Christmas

Today is World AIDS DAY. With no yellow ribbons to tie around the old oak tree, activists are using the color red to highlight the fight against AIDS in Africa during the Christmas season.

The Red campaign headed by singer Bono and a Kennedy (Bobby Shriver states, "Every year 3 million people die from AIDS. Of the 40 million people infected by HIV/AIDS, Africa (which has just over 10% of the world’s population) is home to 60% (25 million). The disease is the leading cause of death in Africa.

Women comprise the fastest growing population group living with HIV/AIDS in Sub-Saharan Africa and the result of their illness on children is compelling. Every time a man or woman is started on anti-retroviral drugs, the survival of children becomes less precarious.

An estimated 13 million children in Africa have been orphaned because of HIV/AIDS already and this number is growing. Almost 2000 children, most of them from sub-Saharan Africa, are infected with HIV each day."

These activist are going after corporate sponsor to raise awareness. Various products by these corporate sponsor will sell products that are red in color. It would be nice if these corporate sponsor donated half of what is collected from these products to fight AIDS rather than just a symbolic use of their products to raise funds.
