Amazing Football
I watched Alabama beat Ole Miss 26-23. Ole Miss had lots of opportunities to upset Alabama but Alabama came out the winner. I saw the highlights of Indiana win over Iowa 31-28 with James Hardy connecting to Kellen Lewis for 3 touchdowns. The play of the day was the one-handed catch by Number 99 Will Meyers interception that sealed Indiana's win.

Don't be Scared !!!
Do you think the political parties of Fort Wayne Indiana wants all eligible African-Americans or Latinos to vote? H--LL No, because they know how many represent the city and would turn the elections upside down. Come on people!! You would of thought the NAACP leadership would boycott this mess. I'll settle for them just answering my letter. In the meantime this is for the voters:
All voters must provide government-issued photo ID as proof of identity before casting their ballot in person. If an individual registers through the mail to vote in Indiana for the first time and does not provide the Allen County Registration Office with identification to verify residency, that voter will cast a provisional ballot, a ballot that can be challenged due to irregularities because of his or her voter registration record, if this information is not provided when voting in person.
Voter ID Give Me A Break (Also, if you check the insert in your NIPSCO Gas Bill you will find similar information)
November 7, 2006, go to the poll and vote even if you don't have your ID. Federal Election Integrity Act of 2006 - (Sec. 2) Amends the Help America Vote Act of 2002 to prohibit the appropriate state or local election official from providing a federal election ballot to an individual who desires to vote in person unless the individual presents to the official:
(1) a government-issued, current, and valid photo identification (ID);
or (2) for regularly scheduled federal general elections held in November 2010 and subsequent years, a government-issued, current, and valid photo ID for which the individual was required to provide proof of U.S. citizenship as a condition for issuance of the ID.
Requires an individual who does not present such an ID to be permitted to cast a provisional ballot in such an election.
Requires such individual, however, to present the required ID within 48 hours after casting the provisional ballot, or the appropriate state or local election official may not determine the individual's eligibility to vote. Requires individuals who vote other than in person in a federal election (for example, by mail) to submit a copy of such a photo ID with a ballot, or the appropriate official may not accept the ballot.
Exempts from this requirement the absentee ballot of any eligible overseas military voter absent from the United States by reason of active duty or service.(Sec. 3) Requires states to establish a program to provide photo IDs in accordance with this Act to individuals who desire to vote but do not otherwise possess a government-issued photo ID. Provides that, if a state charges a fee for providing such a photo ID, the fee: (1) may not exceed the reasonable cost to the state of providing the ID; and (2) may not be charged to any individual who provides an attestation that the individual is unable to afford the fee.
Prohibits the use of any such photo IDs for any state or local government program or function other than election administration. Requires the Election Assistance Commission to make payments to states to cover the costs incurred in providing photo IDs to individuals unable to afford the fee that would otherwise be charged.Authorizes appropriations for FY2008 and following fiscal years.
You need to know who to vote for and who is representing your* district:
My personal example,
Precinct: 563
Voting District: U.S. Congress 3
State Senate 15
State Representative 81
County Council 1
Township Wayne
Your voting location VERY VERY IMPORTANT!!!!!!! THIS IS THE BEST KEPT SECRET!!!!!
Rember when they had the poll taxes and having to recite parts of the Constitution, probably not. But the shuffling of the polling places is no different.
Know where to cast your vote.
This what you will hear at the end of the election, voting turnout was so low!!! Duh, make it easy for the folks.

Tammi -the Candidate
Well, reported by the local newspaper that Tammi McKee altered her own property value, is running as the Republicans' candidate for Wayne Township Assessor. This shows that McKee can carry on the tradition of not following the laws passed down from Indiana General Assembly when it comes to assessing property in Wayne Township. You go girl.. now let see if you can pass the test that Mrs. Pat Love finds oh so challenging. Mrs. Love is a democrat that's over the whole rigged kick and caboodle assessing operation.
Republican Rumor or Joke
Republicans must be spreading the rumor that Evan Bayh will be running for President. Does anyone besides the folks in Indianapolis know who Evan Bayh is, besides other democrats?
Republicans for the good of the Party
Not too surprising that Nelson Peters will wait to see about a run for the Mayor, with the Republican mess going on at the national level. If the Democrats takes the House and the Senate during the November election, the local party can ill afford to have a divided party on the homefront.

Signs of an Election
The dandelions have disappeared and election signs are popping up all over the place. Of course Herb Summers, running for Allen County Recorder had his out pretty early. However, on the southside his opponents, Gauley, has lots and lot of signs lining the curbsides.
Rick Stevenson signs have shown up in the neighborhoods, and I was shocked to see Tom Hayhurst's signs appear on the southside. I finally caught one of Hayhurst ads on television. The ad appeared to push his credentials as a physician rather than his ability as a change for Washington. I remember the peoples' people Hayhurst. The Hayhurst that was a neighborhood association president, wrote informed letters to the editor. The Hayhurst who connected to the people. The new Hayhurst appears as a politician that takes no sides, but appeals to a "vote", a bi-partisan type kind of politician. The message of his ad represent the new vanilla Hayhurst.
Speaking of bi-partisan politic, FWOB, points out our city former Mayor Paul Helmke is endorsing democrats..it's all about the politics baby not parties.

Tax Sales
Allen County held its annual tax sale today. All the banks were closed, but that did not stop the sale or stop the bidders from buying up delinquent tax property. The Tax Sale is a bid auction beginning at 9 a.m., Monday, October 9, 2006 and, if necessary, Tuesday, October
10, 2006 in the City Council Chambers, Room 126, City County Building, One East Main Street. Just before leaving for a doctor's appointment just before noon, the two highest bids at that time was for 8202 RIVEROAK DRIVE going for $370, 000 and 1625 MAGNAVOX WAY for $245,000.
According to the Allen County Auditors website, The buyer’s interest in the property is limited to a lien on the purchased property until:
1. The property is redeemed
2. A Tax Deed is issued
3. or six months after the last date of redemption, whichever occurs first.
There is a 1 year period following the Tax Sale during which anyone may “redeem the property”, i.e. retain possession by paying all money owed to Allen County plus the required fees and interest.

Close to Home
It was a fluke that I happened to see a program two weeks ago called Close to Home, on CBS, Friday at 9:00 p.m. From the corner of my eyes I caught the image of a familiar monument. Since it was the beginning of the program I decided to listen to the dialogue between the actors. It began obvious that the back drop of the program was Indiana. I chuckled as I listened to the more experienced criminal experts speak about the local law enforcement and daylight saving time. I knew at that moment that the location was the city of Indianapolis. And the monument was the State Soldiers' and Sailors' Monument in that sits in the city's circle square. It will be interesting to watch to see what other Indiana treasures will be displayed on the show. It would sure be interesting to see a show segment including The Colts or Pacers. this is the second season for the crime drama.
And, I know the Colts beat Tennessee..but it was close, too close.

Former Congressional Representative Mark Foley
Florida's congressional representative, republican Mark Foley stepped down from his position when questions rose about emails to young Congressional Pages. According to Orlando Sentinel "Foley, a six-term Republican who was co-chair of the Congressional Missing and Exploited Children's Caucus, resigned his seat Friday after ABC News questioned him about the sexually explicit instant messages he reportedly sent three years ago." The content of messages were deemed inappropriate behavior between a congressperson and young pages. The content were viewed as sexual in nature, Foley blames alcoholism and poor behavior problems.
The republicans moral barometer continue to fall with one scandal after the other by its filled with religion conservative political leaders. Leadership that follow their own voices while drowning out the voices of the public. And in doing so, does harm to young men and women as they move to bury the collateral damage. The republicans appears to sympathize with Foley. Suggesting that sexual orientation and the action were with legal adults in Washington, D.C. However, "U.S. Rep. Mark Foley helped push through the passage of the Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act of 2006, which created a national sex-crimes registry and increased penalties for such crimes against children," according to the Miami Herald.
Florida law prohibits anyone from ''encouraging, offering or soliciting sexual conduct'' over the Internet with anyone under 18. Child predators face a minimum of five years in prison and a $5,000 fine, with steeper penalties for repeat offenders.
Indiana child solicitation statute, I.C. § 35-42-4-6, provides that: solicitation,
(a) As used in this section, "solicit" means to command, authorize, urge, incite, request, or advise an individual: (4) by using a computer network;to perform an act described in subsection (b).
(b) A person eighteen (18) years of age or older who knowingly or intentionally solicits a child under fourteen (14) years of age, or an individual the person believes to be a child under fourteen (14) years of age, to engage in:
(3) any fondling or touching intended to arouse or satisfy the sexual desires of either the child or the older person;
commits child solicitation, a Class D felony. However, the offense is a Class C felony if it is committed by using a computer network.
The shame of elected officials going after little boys, can not be a staple of the Republican philosophy of family values. This shame rocks the very foundation of moral values expressed by Republican leadership to young emulating patriots. Not only have the boys not been protected in the church, now officials in government, who had been elected to write laws to protect them has created more uncertainty for innocence young boy's transition into manhood. Is there not a safe place for young males in America? Or this really a prank? According to BREITBART.Com approved nearly four dozen subpoenas. More on the scandal at Drudge Report and MyWay News.

Fort Wayne Metro Pee Wee FootBall
Metro sports is about the youth or is it? Is that a Pepsi sign on the scoreboard? Does Metro get advertisement dollars for that? Metro does not like the taking it to the street vendors' self-initiative spirit supported by Kweku Akan and friends as reported in today's News-Sentinel. In the meantime here's some more pictures of football played by the youth.

The Pee Wee Lions beat Seminoles 20-6.

The ultimate winning team-brother and sister.

And that's the rest of the story.

Republicans Free Ad Campaigning-Souder and Fries
The Allen County Republican Headquarters was host for United States Congress Person Mark Souder of the Third Congressional District and United States Congress Person Mike Pence of the Sixth Congressional District endorsement of Ken Fries for Allen County Sheriff.
According to Souder's official website, U.S. Representative Mark Edward Souder was first elected to Congress in 1994 after working for U.S. Senator Dan Coats (R-IN) for 10 years during Coats' tenure in the House and Senate. The congressman is "a member of the House Committee on Homeland Security, which is the primary body in Congress to address issues of terrorism and the security of the nation, according to his website". And his website states, "Souder has been a champion of legislation to make faith-based organizations eligible to receive federal grants to help address cultural problems such as drug addiction, teen pregnancy and gang activity."
Souder's endorsement of Fries addressed gang activity, in the area of human smuggling, drugs and guns. Do we have a ongoing gang problem? Well listening to Souder, after the ATF snagged 170 guns going out of Fort Wayne and with Goshen with an issue of human smuggling it is something a candidate for sheriff should be concerned. The other endorsement came from U.S. Representative Pence.
Congress Person Pence according to his official website was "elected to Congress in November 2000 and was re-elected to the Sixth Congressional District, encompassing much of the eastern half of Indiana, in 2002 and 2004." More from the website, "Mike Pence was born in Columbus, Indiana, graduated from Hanover College in 1981 and earned his Doctorate in Jurisprudence from Indiana University School of Law in 1986. Following the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, Rep. Pence was appointed to the Judiciary Committee, where he serves on the Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism, and Homeland Security. Pence participated in drafting the Patriot Act and legislation creating the Department of Homeland Security."
This was on the website also, "[d]uring the 108th Congress, Rep. Pence authored the Truth in Domain Names Act, which President Bush signed into law as part of historic child protection legislation. The law will punish those who use misleading domain names to attract children to sexually explicit Internet sites and has already been employed by federal prosecutors to clean up the Internet."

Pence called Ken Fries a "cop's cop" and the the right man at the right time to lead Allen County." The theme this morning appeared to be on electing responsible leadership. Leadership with experience for addressing the growing citizens' fear of homeland or afar terror and disasters. Pence suggested that during times of disasters, the person who citizens call is their local sheriff.
Pence mentioned that this might be the first "joint endorsement" of a candidate. Was this really a joint endorsement of Ken Fries, or a way for free advertisement to bolster support for Souder? Some in the community believe that for the first time a candidate from the Democratic Party will give Souder a run for the district seat. That candidate may be Tom Hayhurst. Nevertheless, Ken Fries was the headliner. Fries spoke on gangs.
Ken Fries suggested with the melting pot atmosphere of the city, that it is just a matter of time before an explosion of gang activity. While some activities by groups of youth may not appear to be gang activity it surely can rise to that level if left unchecked seem to be the warning. The community needs to remove its blinders if they do not think that gang organizational power of the past could not return to the city. In other words, overzealous of monitoring youth could lead to a preemptive strike toward groups hanging together. More interesting was a statement by Fries that at least a million dollars a month leaves northeast Indiana from drug activity.
Of course, all these hypos had me a little confused, because peers tends to hang out with their peers. So, I suggested that if they are truly concerned about criminal activity, the 2500 Block of Warsaw Street could be a starting point. Just in case, city, state, and federal were not sharing information, I thought it was best to let them know and be on the same page, that at least one citizen was concerned. It's not like I have not made phone calls, expressed the problem to city council, an open letter to the Police Chief, and to the public at large. I think I've just about covered all bases.
