IU vs IPFW

IU wins 69 IPFW 68

Scott Wims

Some folks are gearing up to prepare for winter and other folks are stretching their muscle for track and field events. Nebraska Track and Field under the title,
Impressive Marks Posted at Husker Intrasquad Meet is impressed with Fort Wayne, Indiana Scott Wims.

"Several other impressive-looking newcomers exhibited why Track & Field News ranked both Nebraska’s men’s and women’s 2006 recruiting classes among the top-10 groups nationally. In addition to Grier, Hulett and Stately, freshman Scott Wims (6.85) won the 60-meter dash and freshmen Seth Burney (17-1) skyed well past his previous-best performance to win the pole vault. Redshirt freshman Tyrell Ross also won the 60-meter hurdles in 8.15."

Unequally Yoked

The question should I stay should I go ? Perhaps, will not have to be answered with a new law against batterers.

Just imagine a knock on your door, and you are told to gather a few of your things because you are being asked to leave your home.

And then imagine, leaving your home on a chilly night and you must leave your children behind

And then imagine what the discomfort of knowing you will not hug your child or prepare your child breakfast the next morning, or the next, or the next

And the only way you will see them again without going to jail is for a judge to say it's okay.

Just imagine.. to the survivor..just imagine

Marianne Williamson Poem

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness
That most frightens us.

We ask ourselves
Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.
Your playing small
Does not serve the world.

There's nothing enlightened about shrinking
So that other people won't feel insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine, As children do.
We were born to make manifest The glory of God that is within us.
It's not just in some of us; It's in everyone.

And as we let our own light shine,
We unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
As we're liberated from our own fear,
Our presence automatically liberates others.
Now no more fear. (Bold added)

Is this how we protect our children?

Peace Be Still

Fellow Blogger Mitchell Harper, ( FWOB) , who served as Indiana State House Representative from 1978-1990 father passed over the weekend. His father, Homer H. Harper died during the afternoon of December 8, 2006 was 83.

Baby Boomer Discrimination --No Need to Apply

As baby boomers age out, they are finding that companies are either attempting to force them out or into voluntary retirement. Or at will employers decide they want to replace older workers with a younger staff. Folks are living much longer. Today, life expectancy, for baby boomers is much longer than their parents. Folks are living much longer. The old 60s is today's new 50 year old.

The aging baby boomers can retire at age 62 to receive retirement benefit from Social Security. The average for retiring since 1980 has been at least 63, according to Sara E. Rix of
AARP Public Policy Institute in Update on the Aged 55+Worker: 2005, see Rix's Table 3 below:

Social Security Retired Workers: Average
Age of Benefit Award and Percent Awarded
Benefits at Age 62, 1980-2004
Average Age of Award Percent Awarded at 62

1980 63.9 63.7 30.1% 41.6%
1985 63.7 63.4 45.5% 57.9%
1990 63.7 63.5 47.2% 55.9%
1995 63.7 63.5 49.3% 55.4%

Statistical Supplement to the Social Security
Bulletin 2005, Table 6.B5.

An individual must earn at least 40 credit from working before receiving this benefit. A credit is granted four credit a year if you earn at least $3,880 during each year The benefits are paid in a monthly check based on their earning. Moreover, the government has thrown in an incentive for baby boomers to delay their retirement past 62. If an individual delay their retirement until the age of 66 or 70, the monthly benefits increases with the highest monthly benefit at age 70. Nevertheless, in 1983 the government increase the full benefit born in 1960 and later to age 67. One the government understand folks are living longer, and second the government has an obligation to make sure these benefits are available to those individuals who contributed to the fund by paying their taxes.

Nevertheless, the aging boomers cost of living far exceed the monthly benefit and many continue to work. Older workers are competing in the labor pools with younger college skilled worker compared to their on the job training skills. Although, some aging boomers refuse to be left behind by returning to college to learn the new technologies can not combat the perception of diminished capacity. The desire for youthfulness in the workplace can not overcome the experienced of boomers or the subtlety of ageism.

For women, ageism is part and parcel of sexism. Especially if they are low or middle income women. You don't see folks requesting or telling Tina Turner to retire, or Barbara Walter, or Martha Stewart or Maya Angelo or Sylvester Stallone. The best protection against ageism that the government could muster up was the United State Age Discrimination Act. The act provides a remedy for those who believe that were unjustly discriminated against based on their age. The act covers individuals who are 40 years old or older.

"A charge of age discrimination can be filed with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and the state fair employment agency. The charge must be filed within 180 days of the date of discrimination or within 300 days of the discrimination in states with a law prohibiting age discrimination and an agency to enforce that law", cited in Laura McCann's article, Age Discrimination in Employment Legislation: The United States Experience.

Drug Bust

A drug bust was made in the 2800 block of South Lafayette. That's just around the corner from the 2500 block of Caroline Street. For years, I means drugs have been dealt in the open market on the street. Drug dealers stand on the sidewalk in front of houses on Caroline Street. I guess if you don't have a house for the city to condemn, it okay to deal drugs in the neighborhood.

Steve Shine Motion, Motion, and mores Motion

A Motion was filed to seal record in regards to the marriage of Laura Shine and Steven Shine with memorandum attached. Other motions were filed December 7, 2006 covering respondent's (Steven Shine) motion to strike petitioner's (Laura Shine) petition for dissolution, answer to petitioner's petition for dissolution and respondent's affirmative response, and motion to strike petitioner's motion for emergency and expedited appointment of special judge and for sanctions in regards to the marriage of Laura Shine and Steven Shine.

Including in the record was an ante nuptial agreement, listing separate values of the parties. An ante-nuptial agreement is a legal binding contract. However, it is rebuttal under condition found to be unconscionable, according to the Uniform Premarital Agreement Act which was drafted in 1983. Indiana has similar provisions incorporated in its code.

In September 21, 2006, the Supreme Court in Kentucky declared an ante-nuptial unconscionable. Here's more information about ante-nuptial, sometimes called a prenuptial, or premarital agreement.

Steve Shine Wife's Demands

Charles Pratt recused himself when Laura Shine attorney, Michael Loomis requested a special judge, according to the petition filed with the Allen County Clerk's Office. Mrs. Shine petition voiced some concerns about conflict of interest within the Allen County pointing to the fact that the Allen County Sheriff Office came out to her home to oust her from her home (see below). The Allen County Sheriff protects the judges of the Circuit and Superior Court including staff members. I thought they were to protect the citizens no wonder there were so many knuckle heads running around trying to intimidate folks. Sheriff Ken Fries I suggest youput them in a car to patrol the streets, they are not protecting anyone. Some of these officers can barely move but are carrying guns. Now, if a criminal was to enter the building do you think they would be able to run them down, before they got to the judges' chamber? I don't think so. I know you got this big thing going right now to prevent folks from upsetting the high and mighty judges who sit on the bench for a few hours a day. And you call that beefed up security, when it gives more privileges to the folks who work in the courthouse.

Back to the petition of Laura Shine (and the court )the reason I combine the two they are almost inseparable. The petition claims, " The Allen County Sheriff Department also involved itself in the service of a protective order secured by Respondent on November 28, 2006 against petitioner that were outside the purview of the Sheriff's role in the service of a protective order and reflected the influence of respondent." Hmmm, the officers are not attorney, it would it seems to being telling the court.

The petition continues, " Respondent has made a number of false public comments about the incidents of November 9, 2006 and about his marriage and family." Suggesting that these false public comments have been in print and in the electronic media. The petition goes on to suggest that the petitioner believes that the respondent's political reach may unduly prejudice the treatment and outcome of her case..citing one example of this that one Allen County Judge was summoned by respondent to the marital residence on or about November 12, 2006 only three days after the incident being investigated by the Indiana State Police on November 9, 2006 in an effect to by respondent to intimidate petitioner.

More telling about this woman's character is found in her Verified Petition for Dissolution of Marriage. In this petition, the petitioner request the court to determine the appropriate arrangements for custody and visitation of the minor children..
The petitioner request the court issue an order making equitable distribution of the property between the parties. And that the court award the petitioner reasonable attorney fees and costs of this action. Mrs. Shine it appears seem to be simply asking the court to follow the guidelines in granting a divorce in this matter.

Let me do my disclaimer here, I have no interest in the outcome of this matter, I am only blogging about an issue that may impact the African-American community.

Drunk Judge may return to his Bench

John F. Hanley, a Marion County Superior judge in Indianapolis was arrested driving while drunk. It was reported that Hanley alcohol level was .16 , twice the amount of an intoxicated person. One quote in the article, "He's a good man. He's been accused of making a mistake," Shroyer said. "This time of year, with Christmas parties and all the holiday revelry, there's sure to be the annual list of embarrassing events." It's no mistake to get behind the wheel, put the key in the ignition and drive out after you had to drink. You just don't care.

Hat tip to Indiana Law Blog.

Indiananewscenter reported that Douglas Foy entered a preliminary plead of not guilty. Foy is charged with various forgery charges.

Fort Wayne Observed reports that Nelson Peterson has hired a well-respected campaign manager. Makes me wonder compared to who? Can I get some fries with that shake?

(Still scratching my head and trying to figure that article out?)
Um, was there a point? I got so lost in trying to figure out the ebonics I couldn’t follow the flow - oh yeah, because there wasn’t any…
In regards to the Ken Fries topic, I wonder who she felt was a good appointment that met her criteria? Was there even someone that she can justify as being passed over for such positions? Maybe that would have shed a bit of light on her rant…
In regards to her Steve Shine rant, did she like leave a few sentences out???
Maybe that other person will come on her blog and translate what was said…

Soon to be official Sheriff Fries had so many to pick from in that diversity base! Golly gee wiz! I suppose that is why he chose the SWAT and officers with the most training? Maybe he should have picked rookies? Oh and next they can change to day-glo uniforms! Then in the dark the criminals won’t be at a disadvantage by not being able to see the officers sneak up on them! Give me a break!

President Bush-Victory or Success

It will be neither, the clock is ticking and your time is running out. The best the President can do is to remove our troops starting the new year. This will be a political success by conceding to the fact that not enough or incorrect information diminished any chance for a military victory. Sorry Mr. President Bush you needed four more years in office to participate in the civil war in Iraq created by our military might.

Name calling -Sambo or the N-Word

Some folks skirt around using the N..Word to describe African-Americans instead they smugly use terms like Sambo. And some folks will blatantly use a caricature to emphasize their feeling about their views about certain African-Americans. And because they used a lesser derogatory term they think they are clever, in calling an African-American the N..Word in a more subtle way. These folks hang onto a racial hatred of the past that is shared among like thinking people in their private lives rather than their public expression.

Below you will find the story of little black sambo, which took place in India, and tells the tale of a person of color in India, that outsmarted some tigers and in doing so prevented the Tigers from eating him. And in the tigers' need to possess the property of someone else, they destroyed each other into butter for the little boy's family. The dark skinned character features have been has exaggerated to ridicule and make fun as a representations of Africans features, in a time when folks did not know any better. The story was written in 1899.

The Story of Little Black Sambo
By Helen Bannerman

PREFACE.

There is very little to say about the story of LITTLE BLACK
SAMBO. Once upon a time there was an English lady in India,
where black children abound and tigers are everyday affairs,
who had two little girls. To amuse these little girls she
used now and then to invent stories, for which, being
extremely talented, she also drew and coloured the pictures.
Among these stories LITTLE BLACK SAMBO, which was made up on a
long railway journey, was the favourite; and it has been put
into a DUMPY BOOK, and the pictures copies as exactly as
possible, in the hope that you will like it as much as the two
little girls did.

The Story of Little Black Sambo.

Once upon a time there was a little black boy, and his name
was Little Black Sambo.

And his mother was called Black Mumbo.

And his father was called Black Jumbo.

And Black Mumbo made him a beautiful little Red Coat, and a
pair of beautiful little blue trousers.

And Black Jumbo went to the Bazaar, and bought him a beautiful
Green Umbrella, and a lovely little Pair of Purple Shoes with
Crimson Soles and Crimson Linings.

And then wasn't Little Black Sambo grand?

So he put on all his Fine Clothes, and went out for a walk in
the Jungle. And by and by he met a Tiger. And the Tiger said
to him, "Little Black Sambo, I'm going to eat you up!" And
Little Black Sambo said, "Oh! Please Mr. Tiger, don't eat me
up, and I'll give you my beautiful little Red Coat." So the
Tiger said, "Very well, I won't eat you this time, but you
must give me your beautiful little Red Coat." So the Tiger
got poor Little Black Sambo's beautiful little Red Coat, and
went away saying, "Now I'm the grandest Tiger in the Jungle."

And Little Black Sambo went on, and by and by he met another
Tiger, and it said to him, "Little Black Sambo, I'm going to
eat you up!" And Little Black Sambo said, "Oh! Please Mr.
Tiger, don't eat me up, and I'll give you my beautiful little
Blue Trousers." So the Tiger said, "Very well, I won't eat
you this time, but you must give me your beautiful little Blue
Trousers." So the Tiger got poor Little Black Sambo's
beautiful little Blue Trousers, and went away saying, "Now I'm
the grandest Tiger in the Jungle."

And Little Black Sambo went on, and by and by he met another
Tiger, and it said to him, "Little Black Sambo, I'm going to
eat you up!" And Little Black Sambo said, "Oh! Please Mr.
Tiger, don't eat me up, and I'll give you my beautiful little
Purple Shoes with Crimson Soles and Crimson Linings."

But the Tiger said, "What use would your shoes be to me? I've
got four feet, and you've got only two; you haven't got enough
shoes for me."

But Little Black Sambo said, "You could wear them on your
ears."

"So I could," said the Tiger: "that's a very good idea. Give
them to me, and I won't eat you this time."

So the Tiger got poor Little Black Sambo's beautiful little
Purple Shoes with Crimson Soles and Crimson Linings, and went
away saying, "Now I'm the grandest Tiger in the Jungle."

And by and by Little Black Sambo met another Tiger, and it
said to him, "Little Black Sambo, I'm going to eat you up!"
And Little Black Sambo said, "Oh! Please Mr. Tiger, don't eat
me up, and I'll give you my beautiful Green Umbrella." But
the Tiger said, "How can I carry an umbrella, when I need all
my paws for walking with?"

"You could tie a knot on your tail and carry it that way,"
said Little Black Sambo. "So I could," said the Tiger."
Give it to me, and I won't eat you this time." So he got poor
Little Black Sambo's beautiful Green Umbrella, and went away
saying, "Now I'm the grandest Tiger in the Jungle."

And poor Little Black Sambo went away crying, because the
cruel Tigers had taken all his fine clothes.

Presently he heard a horrible noise that sounded like "Gr-r-r-
r-rrrrrr," and it got louder and louder. "Oh! dear!" said
Little Black Sambo, "there are all the Tigers coming back to
eat me up! What shall I do?" So he ran quickly to a palm-
tree, and peeped round it to see what the matter was.

And there he saw all the Tigers fighting, and disputing which
of them was the grandest. And at last they all got so angry
that they jumped up and took off all the fine clothes, and
began to tear each other with their claws, and bite each other
with their great big white teeth.

And they came, rolling and tumbling right to the foot of the
very tree where Little Black Sambo was hiding, but he jumped
quickly in behind the umbrella. And the Tigers all caught
hold of each other's tails, as they wrangled and scrambled,
and so they found themselves in a ring round the tree.

Then, when the Tigers were very wee and very far away, Little
Black Sambo jumped up, and called out, "Oh! Tigers! why have
you taken off all your nice clothes? Don't you want them any
more?" But the Tigers only answered, "Gr-r-rrrr!"

Then Little Black Sambo said, "If you want them, say so, or
I'll take them away." But the Tigers would not let go of each
other's tails, and so they could only say "Gr-r-r-rrrrrr!"

So Little Black Sambo put on all his fine clothes again and
walked off.

And the Tigers were very, very angry, but still they would not
let go of each other's tails. And they were so angry, that
they ran round the tree, trying to eat each other up, and they
ran faster and faster, till they were whirling round so fast
that you couldn't see their legs at all.

And they still ran faster and faster and faster, till they all
just melted away, and there was nothing left but a great big
pool of melted butter (or "ghi," as it is called in India)
round the foot of the tree.

Now Black Jumbo was just coming home from his work, with a
great big brass pot in his arms, and when he saw what was left
of all the Tigers he said, "Oh! what lovely melted butter!
I'll take that home to Black Mumbo for her to cook with."

So he put it all into the great big brass pot, and took it
home to Black Mumbo to cook with.

When Black Mumbo saw the melted butter, wasn't she pleased!
"Now," said she, "we'll all have pancakes for supper!"

So she got flour and eggs and milk and sugar and butter, and
she made a huge big plate of most lovely pancakes. And she
fried them in the melted butter which the Tigers had made, and
they were just as yellow and brown as little Tigers.

And then they all sat down to supper. And Black Mumbo ate
Twenty-seven pancakes, and Black Jumbo ate Fifty-five but
Little Black Sambo ate a Hundred and Sixty-nine, because he
was so hungry.

Laura Shine vs. Steve Shine

Well, it did not take a rocket scientist to know that the public battle in the Shine household was going to get ugly. If the fact, that an attorney filed an ex-parte order to oust his wife of 24 years from the marital, did not give a warning. Then the filing for divorce by the wife should have put to rest any doubt that not only was it going to get ugly but the media was going to do as much too distance itself from the mess. Some in the media would label the mess as not news worthy.

I beg to differ. Especially when the media had no problem reporting the statements by the leader of the pack, Steve Shines to sway the public in this private matter. A private matter that is until an investigation for allegation domestic violence charge was not recanted. Can you recant or would that be redact once it is reported? The media suggest that it was only a moment of tension, when a man snatching things from a wife,. Some in the media even suggest that it does not rise to the level of man b***hslapping his wife. In other words, if the hand did not touch the body than you must acquit.

Well guess what the wife has an sworn affivadit on file alleging some outrageous behavior that would give the public a moment pause about the king of spin for the Republican Party. And if there was ever the fear of wife getting to tell her version to the media, the ideal of her hiring an attorney who earlier sued him must have taken all the spit one could muster to swallow in order to catch a breathe. The sworn affidavit alleges that," petitioner has for quite some time intimidated me with psychological, emotional and verbal abuse,..." I refused to type the allegation about the minor.

There's more, " petitioner is engaged in frequent and routine drug use(specifically marijuana) and he is regularly under the influence of marijuana in the presence of the children." These and other statements were alleged in an emergency motion to support the wife request to dissolve the ex-parte order to a special judge. Now those were statements for dissolution of the protection order. There were other allegations of Bill Clintonism behavior of being unable tit be faithful to his wife.

But remember none of this stuff is news worthy and it probably too close to a lot of folks homes so probably won't make it to the 6:00 0'Clock news. But, if some of the statements are true, Laura Shine is in battle with more than her husband and I don't mean the children.

Guilty of JDWD

The judge was guilty of driving while drunk. If judges are above the law, don't you think they treat their friends the same?

Psst, Have I ever told you my footsteps are not ordered by man

I was just wondering, because folks don't understand what I mean about not being mean but I will step to the line for an accounting of who I am. That's right, so yesterday, I might have been a little sensitive with the jerking around that I got at the courthouse. But, give me a break, I was not seeking the keys to Gates house. Now these folks have real money and power. Nevertheless, I took to the bed. But today I just learned that a special judge is assigned to the Shine family's divorce. I was thinking no way would Michael Loomis, attorney for the wife would allow Stephens Sims or some other sitting Republican judge locally hear this powder keg.

So, I am off to find that file, so that I can read it for myself, and not have to rely on gossip, rumors, or outright lies. Or what is spooned fed to the media, and AWB I will probably stop at one of my favorite eatries, and enjoy some good rich chocolate. So hurry on down, sound like you need a good treat. Perhaps, you can see for yourself that I ain't nobody little Sambo. N'all on second thought, you need to just drop in on a Kwanzaa celebration that occurs after Christmas, starting December 26 to January 1. A celebration for reflecting on the previous year and for reflecting on how to make the new year better. You think?

But back to the courthouse, you folks are not the President. I understand you live in communities where you don't have to live with, speak to, or even acknowledge that African-Americans exist in your world. But,I am here to tell you that when you come to work you are going to see them, hear them and we don't care if you don't feel well or you are having a bad day. You ain't at home, so you need to act like you got some sense. Isn't that what you tell your children when they are out and about with civilized folks? I thought so, and that's what African-Americans tell grown folks who act like little children around us civilized folks. I was not born on bended knees nor my footsteps ordered, so recognize.

Hippy Hop to the courthouse.

Are you ready for the question? Is Douglas Foy a smoke screen to quiet a bigger fire?

The timing of criminal charges against Douglas Foy has a certain ring about it. It was bad enough for the man to lose his job, but I can't believe that he will sit mute facing over 30 years in prison for dumb political mess. Why has the prosecutor office sent forth charges against Douglas Foy at the same time when the Republican Party Chair is being investigated for possible criminal charges? I am sure that a plea bargain will lessen the sentence for Foy, but a day in prison for corrupt practices by a party is too harsh.

I reflect back below with earlier postings.
Advance Indiana points out Ben Lanka of the Journal-Gazette reports that forgery has occurred under the watch of the Allen County Election Board, Pam Findlayson. Not once, not twice but a dozen or more signatures for Republican candidates were forged. Doug Foy,respresenting the Republican party was alleged to be the culprit in the story. Foy is just the fall guy, the real culprit is the ploy embedded in the lack of checks and balances among the two party system here in Allen County.Read more.

The Democratic leadership is debating whether or not sufficient evidence is available to prove whether or not a criminal investigation is warranted. According to a story by Ben Lanka, Kevin Knuth is fledging outrage, while Andy Down is pondering or pandering over the issue in the media.Read more of this posting.

Now, wait just a minute. What is this farce, Douglas Foy is being thrown under the bus? What officials gave Foy, the extended time beyond the permissible time for filing declaratation of candidates? Do we really believe Foy was the only wrongdoer?

Interesting editorial exempting certain officials role in the wrongdoing, "Local voters can take some solace in knowing that a sharp-eyed election official detected apparently invalid signatures and that County Republican Chairman Steve Shine promptly and responsibly fired Foy when learning of the problem." More likely, the cover up was about to be blown. How incompetence do you have to be to not see the different between a signature that says Bob on one line and directly under a different signature, Robert? Read the rest of the posting.

Racialized when you enter the Allen County Court House in search of Laura Shine's Divoce Paper

When you enter the courthouse it not the most friendly environment. But when you ask folks who work there about stuff especially stuff they general know more about than the public, some will try to dismiss you. And when you ask them questions that they are unable to answer, ooh they get upset and will call the law on you as if they are scared of you. In other words your presence is now labeled as a threat. I think they should get some more folks of color in the place, myself. Some of the new bimbos don't realize I have worked in the system and I definitely know how it works. Sometimes, I forget, I am African-American who is not in the system when I walk up into this crazy place. Listen to Dr. Karenga explain this racialization.

Counting the days when Bush begins pulling out troops

Oh Georgie Boy will soon have to start pulling out the troops. Even the Iraq leader flip the President. Do can trust a liar..even if he is the President of the United States. Do we think Bush will resign like John Bolton the United Nations Ambassador for the United States?

Hate Crimes in Indiana

This story I found on AdvanceIndiana. It does not surprise me that Indiana does not have a hate crime law. This is the land of the KKK, it is hard to change the laws in a racialist community. Read story in the Northwest Indiana News

Too Quiet in the Blogosphere

This weekend was hot. First, I read on the blogosphere folks backing down on the domestic violence and protective order. I'm thinking wait a minute, I thought these were individual blogs and not representative of either party. Read this on Indiana Law Blog. No one is name callings or exaggerating the truth, what what? The truth of the matter, is that the bloggers have not posted anything that was not true. And that is based on the evidence, the protective order itself. In Saturday's paper, Steve Shine is quoted as having checked certain boxes on the ex-parte order. And on that order was several options to check and Shine checked only that he was a victim of domestic violence. But Shine did not stop there, Shine went on to describe two incidents. The two incidents had the date of the 12th and the 27th, nothing was described about the November 9th incident. On the blogosphere, the incident for the November 9th incident comes from a police log. Had it not been for the blogosphere addressing a concern that a cover up to keep the public from being the informed public they should be, the facts may not have never hit the light of day. No one is spreading rumors, gossips or rumors of rumor. This is totally different from what happens on the blog that calls me a SAMBO, other insults and specifically targets individuals with lies. No comparison. Read Nancy Nall blog on the Steve Shine incident.

Now turning to Evan Bayh, good luck for someone picking you for Vice-President, because there is no way you will be selected for President. I have stated this before, and I have seen nothing to change my mind. I understand that you believe that because your dad did something, and Indianapolis selected you for governor twice, that you could think this way. But, you are hanging out with the big boys and girls now, we are talking folks with brains, not local politics. You know where folks have the power to do favors for folks, wink wink. Nancy Pelosi has a better chance of becoming President. But it is a good to put your face out there for fundraising, to build up that kitty, Evan. It's better than that 21st Century program that you keep talking about.

And last but not least, I watched two exciting games over the weekend, USC and Tennessee. I'm still waiting for East Allen County Paul Harding big celebration..go Hawks.

NeighborWorks/Project Renew

Kathleen Quilligan of the News-Sentinel reports on the misdirection of nearly $630,000. An audit discovered the misdirected funds. Several staff members were dismissed. However, board members were not found to have failed to protect the interest of NeighborWorks investors. The internal investigation covers a period going all the way back to 2001. The board members had a fiduciary duty of oversight and may have cost the agency over $630,000. There is liability imposed when this duty is not carried out by the board members. Futhermore, action of wrongdoing should be reported to the proper officials, in that way the whole story comes out rather than those who are held up as the scapegoats. The story does not list the names of banks, partners, or the homebuyers who were involved. Sounds like another one for Attorney General Steven Carter, Fort Wayne has him hopping.

Signs of Abuse

Hypocrites ! Read in the journal-gazette. I have not seen or heard one so-called raced white woman speak out in the media about the Steve Shine ongoing saga. Hypocrites, who collect money and do little if any work to better the lives of women, just actors standing in the shadow of male privilege.

Steve Shine Ex-Parte Order for protection

Leo Morris states on his blog that it was just a little tension in the household..
So, what will Morris say about the new development of a protective order by a man against his loving wife?

Interesting, that it was and is the blogosphere that asked the questions that the media would not have because Steve Shine is concerned the big voice and the man with the Republican Party. The media definitely did not wanted to paint Shine in a bad light, these are his colleagues and friends. Just like I tell young folks, when a nice person does criminal acts, they have committed a criminal act. It does not matter that you like the person, its still a criminal act. A criminal is a criminal, just some are punished more severely than others. The news media determine which criminal life they will drag in the mud, and they are trying to keep a safe distance from Shine's mud.

Kevin Knuth erases his accusations from his Dem web, which should not have been there in the first place. If this was a website for the Democratic party, it should be used to highlight the accomplishments of the party. Knuth could have established a separate blog for the bickering between the two party leaders Besides what Shine does is not Knuth's problem, Knuth's problem is growing the party with competent folks.

If this family dispute was so tame, why did the family attorney file for a protective order?
Second why is the wife out of the house? Don't the Republican protect their virtuous women? The first one on the courthouse stairs it appears will set the tone of this dispute.

Shine files for protective order, after, "[n]early three weeks after police responded to a 911 call from his house to investigate an alleged domestic battery, Allen County Republican Party Chairman Steve Shine has filed for a protective order against his wife.

Shine, a family law attorney, filed the order Tuesday against Laura Beth Shine, according to Allen Superior Court documents. Shine, 54, declined comment, and his wife could not be reached for comment.

The protective order says Beth Shine, 51, must stay away from her husband and the Shines’ home in southwest Allen County. A hearing is scheduled Dec. 21 on the matter" according to the local brief."

The protective order was granted on November 28, 2006 and a hearing scheduled for December 21, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. The description of the incident was, "I was asleep in our bedroom when respondent without provocation etnered room ripped covers off bed, turned radio on as loud as possible began throwing things at me, broke personal property, grabed (sp) glass ashtray or container, threatend (sp) to hit me with it and kill me."

Question, how loud was the radio and how heavy was the ashtray?

On 11/27/ 2006 respondent emailed me renewing her threats, continues the desciption of incidents. Email was attached, but I will not repeat the exact words on this posting. However, the email was vague seeking the least hurtful way to resolve an issue.

A PROTECTIVE ORDER--why would Shine fear for his life and ban his wife from their children home? Or Steve Shine trying to get possession of the home? The order is good for two years.

Domestic Violence - Charitable Deduction before Tax Season

What does Domestic Violence have to do with filing taxes? Keep reading.
When filing your taxes, taxpayers sometime find it hard to decide which form to use among the 1040EZ, 1040A and 1040. Those tax filers, who have no adjustment to their income, could use 1040EZ. The 1040EZ is the simplest form. If tax filers cannot exceed the standard deduction allotted by the government based on a taxpayer filing status, the 1040A will probably serve their tax filing needs. The 1040A limits the types of deductions for taxpayer using this form. However, if tax filers’ deductions or certain types of expenses exceed the standard deduction, using the 1040 form will allow the taxpayer to itemize these expenses in order to reduce the taxpayer tax liability.

And it's still not too late to contribute to charitable organizations. Organizations like the National Housing Law Project would probably jump for joy to get a donation and at the same time the donation would be tax deductible. According to a recent mailing, “NHLP [l]ast year, assisted in drafting amendments to the federal Violence against Women Act to establish the housing rights of victims of domestic violence. The law now protects those who historically have faced the choice of fleeing abuse or retaining their homes by securing their rights to remain in the federally assisted housing programs.”

During the holiday season, stress can increase the incidents of domestic violence; it sure is nice to know there is an organization ready and willing to help those who need a friend during such a crisis.
Men even take pledges to stop violence against women, according to United States Department of Justice Website. "Men play an important role in our nation’s efforts to stop violence against women. All men have the opportunity to serve as role models for other men and boys in regards to the treatment of women and girls. Boys need to be taught at a young age that violence against women is wrong and will not be tolerated. Men are in a unique position to communicate this message in a strong, compassionate, and meaningful way. Working in partnership, men and women together can make enormous strides toward changing attitudes and perceptions around domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking, "

Stopping the violence is not a he says she says thing its' the law.

RED World AIDS Day--in the Spirit of Christmas

Today is World AIDS DAY. With no yellow ribbons to tie around the old oak tree, activists are using the color red to highlight the fight against AIDS in Africa during the Christmas season.

The Red campaign headed by singer Bono and a Kennedy (Bobby Shriver states, "Every year 3 million people die from AIDS. Of the 40 million people infected by HIV/AIDS, Africa (which has just over 10% of the world’s population) is home to 60% (25 million). The disease is the leading cause of death in Africa.

Women comprise the fastest growing population group living with HIV/AIDS in Sub-Saharan Africa and the result of their illness on children is compelling. Every time a man or woman is started on anti-retroviral drugs, the survival of children becomes less precarious.

An estimated 13 million children in Africa have been orphaned because of HIV/AIDS already and this number is growing. Almost 2000 children, most of them from sub-Saharan Africa, are infected with HIV each day."

These activist are going after corporate sponsor to raise awareness. Various products by these corporate sponsor will sell products that are red in color. It would be nice if these corporate sponsor donated half of what is collected from these products to fight AIDS rather than just a symbolic use of their products to raise funds.

Domestic Battery Example

Let's see if my writing confused you, here's something from the newspaper, that may clear up your misconception about domestic violence or domestic battery on the homefront.

I think it got something to do with trying to control or restrain a person, more from the article:

"According to the affidavit, Tyler made more grabs at the woman. He told police at the scene he did not physically assault her. She showed the same officers a small red mark near her bicep. According to court records, the woman filed a protective order against Tyler in March and then again Sept. 6, five days after officers were at the couple’s home.

Tyler allegedly broke her cell phone in two when she tried to call police that day, which he also denies. He threw away a cordless house phone she tried to use afterward. Police later found only the battery lying on the floor. He tore her robe, the affidavit says.."

It is not a he says, she says but The law of the land-Domestic Battery

I am still waiting for the victim to speak out. What happened to all those folks who support the victims? Oh, I see it depends on who is the victim, a sort of selective process. Sometimes folks thinks they know everything,(including myself at times) and other folks seek out information to be better informed, so here I go thinking I know everything and I'm sharing:

Domestic violence

Steve Shine and Random Acts of Racialist Action

I understand some folks had some problems understanding this post. So I am reposting:

Contagious shooting. Yep, they are trying to justify the latest shooting of an unarmed African-American male as police training, and not just straight out of control police officers. Contagious shooting, they are say is when one officer fires and the other officers starting shooting automatically.

Here's another one, a 14 year old boy is beaten to death, in a boot camp setting. A nurse was standing by during the beating. To justify the boy's death, it was a blood issue. Yeah, it was the blood of an African-American.

Here's another one. Raced white (jewish Republican leader) wife calls in report of domestic violence. If you are restrained from doing something, it's is physical. The police shows up but the report is not available and action delayed.

Here's another one, Ken Fries, the newly elected Allen County selected his new support team. Not one person who was not a female nor African-American in the bunch. So much for inclusion in 2006 under younger leadership.

What Michael Richards did reflects on the ordered steps of the majority of folks who are in charge of something. The majority don't give a hoot nanny about the life of an African-American. And if they (those in leadership position) are given unfettered discretion to circumvent the laws in discipline, moreso than not they are likely to deny African-Americans their civil rights under this type of power.

The good ole boys network has to surround themselves with the same mentality (folks with the same way of thinking), to continue the old traditions of Jim Crow. They don't want different they just want to pretend life is better in their world when they lie to each other. In this article, Steve Shine shines light on the false perceptive that the Republican Party are the standard bearer of truth, patriot saints and family values role models, when he states, "I want the public to know how challenging it can be for families: finances, children's problems, drugs," he said. "Family values are important but life isn't perfect. I have yet to find an Ozzie and Harriet. This is part of life." In other words for those who can't read between the lines, Republicans ain't all that and a bag of chips or the Republicans are just ordinary people or the Republicans do dumb stuff or the Republicans are not the next best thing to ice cream. Geez.

Conservative, family values, anti-same sex marriages..just code words for those folks who need to belong to some group. Or for group thinkers or for folks who need to belong to a party that had lots of Klu Klux Klan members who were evil hatemongers. Or are they still hatemongers? Do you think these folks have changed?

Taxes, Taxes and Retirement Investment

Black Friday has come and gone, one of the busiest days of Christmas shopping for bargain hunters. Monday, November 27, 2006 is being predicted as a Black Monday for online record breaking Christmas shopping. Reports have it that this year, some shoppers are spending more than their earnings by using credit cards.

Nevertheless, some smart shoppers are avoiding the pressure of overspending by using their debit cards to limit their spending. Other shoppers are shopping online to avoid the pressure of impulse buying during the season of giving. While other shoppers are buying gift cards to make sure it’s a gift purchased that is one wanted by the receiver.

But the best shoppers, getting the bang for their buck, are those investing part of their extra money into IRA accounts. These shoppers are aware that by purchasing an IRA or Roth at the end of the year may reduce their taxable income. The amount deposited into these IRAs can be declared on this year tax return.

This is a treat for those who are 50 and older. These funds can be drawn when a person turns 591/2 years of year. These accounts are not just for older adults, and you have until April 15, 2006 to place these funds into a current account or to open a new account. In some cases, this may allow for a tax refund that might recoup some or all the money spent during the Christmas season. However, if these individuals fail to deposit these funds into the IRA before the April 15, 2006 deadline, IRS will impose a huge penalty. Remember it's your money.

Michael (Kramer) Richards example of a racialist meltdown

For me, it is hard to fake when you don't like a person.
And it's probably even harder to fake when the person is in your face giving you grief. But because, I don't like a person, does not give me the right to confront or hurl insults. That person is some mother's child, is how I look at it. Michael (Kramer) Richards was probably at his last straw of tolerance, when he came unglued or unnerved by the heckling audience member.

At the end of his wit ends and the heckler at a safe distance, Kramer did the unforgettable. Kramer used the six letter N-word. It was not just about Kramer letting out a racial rant of just how he felt about the person's cultural background. But Kramer did it while the cameras were rolling. Kramer lost it, he forgot to use his political correct language.

Some may have cheered at hearing Kramer giving the heckler a once over, others were shocked while others were outraged. Kramer himself, appearing remorseful, on the David Letterman show apologized for his outburst of intolerance.

What Kramer did is not a surprise to many African-Americans who don't believe that raced whites have forgotten or put away their belief of raced white privilege. This is a racist world that we live in, we are taught about its racist history. Some reject the racist model of the past and others work on ending the practices of racialists. However, there are some who are proud racialists and prefer the legal conduct of the past toward African-Americans. Kramer caught on tape spewing racialist language does not mean he is a racist, but it does suggest he is a practicing racialist.

The news media would have probable discounted it as not being news worthy, because it was just a famous actor degrading an African-American. But the Internet has a different type of editorial standard. The Internet allows anyone at anytime to show someone caught doing something unexpected and when least expected.

For that reason, some folks should remember a television show called Candid Camera, and the warning was when you least expected you might be on Candid Camera. Kramer suggested that after the episode of the racial attack that he will work for a change. Kramer has learned the lesson of self-censor, because just like the warning for the Candid Camera show, you never know and when you least expect it the camera gotcha moment.

I am still trying to figure out why Mel Gibson was lambasted for his anti-semitism remarks and Kramer is viewed as just having a moment? Where is the same type of outrage???

Reclamation Projects in the Hood

Well the condemnations signs are gone. This could be a good sign. Read previous posting below:

This person decided to purchase and work on a dilapidated building. This person went and got a permit. After the person almost completely renovated the building, someone came through and told him he had the wrong type of permit. Made him close shop, stop repairs, and his building was condemned.

Next, a group had lofty goals and found a dilapidated building and the city gave them the building free of charge!! The group had a year to work on the building to bring it up to code or the building could be taken back. The building has been in rehabiliation since 2003 or 2004 and the building has not be condemned. And the building has not been taken back from the group.

How could this happen?

Election Droppings

Who will the Democrats run for Mayor in the city? I suggested Heather Presley, however, I am hearing that it will be Mark G. and Tom H. I am hearing that Karen Goldner will run against Don Schmidt. I am hearing...it is time to take off and enjoy the holiday.

I got a great video of the family that can't wait to share.

Constructive Eminent Domain

Well the signs are gone from the small business man business for sure.

I took a friend by to see the stop work order signs late last night. Today the stop orders are gone. I hope this is a postive sign for the small businessman. And not some mean spirited individuals who pulled them down to get the guy in trouble. I will check later.

Filing your Federal and State Taxes

For some individuals, tax preparation services are free of charge. But some these individual especially those seeking the refundable tax credit under the Earned Income Tax Credit opt out of using the free tax preparation services for several reasons. One reason is the refundable tax credit. Some individuals participate in trading children for the tax credit. This practice may be legal in certain situations, but for many it is not. Therefore they tend to use tax services that will overlook the tax code mandate on claiming the credit. Especially, since some low income women have filed in the past and were not caught in prior years. However, taking this risk, if caught, the offenders can be find liable to the Internal Revenue service and can be or disallowed from receiving the earned income credit for up to 10 years, even if eligible in those years for claiming the credit

Another reason for opting out of using the free tax services is need for getting their tax refunds quick. Some tax payers are unwilling to wait the 7 to 10 days or three weeks under the free tax service. Instead, these individuals seek out tax services that will provide loans within 15 minutes after determining client eligibility for a refund. These rapid loan services also provide loans on same day in some cases. These loans are based on the amount of the return and fees are involved sometimes in the range of hundreds of dollars.

However, the advantage to using the free service is that if there are no outstanding tax obligations or bank loan obligations, a return can be deposited into an account or two which will speed up the process since they are going directly to the Internal Revenue service. In addition, hundreds of dollars are saved without having to pay for the other type of quick and rapid service. It’s your money and the free service wants you to pocket your money.

Eminent Domain by any other name

This person decided to purchase and work on a dilapidated building. This person went and got a permit. After the person almost completely renovated the building, someone came through and told him he had the wrong type of permit. Made him close shop, stop repairs, and his building was condemned.

Next, a group had lofty goals and found a dilapidated building and the city gave them the building free of charge!! The group had a year to work on the building to bring it up to code or the building could be taken back. The building has been in rehabiliation since 2003 or 2004 and the building has not be condemned. And the building has not been taken back from the group.

How could this happen?

O.J. Simpson Confession is Pulled

Deal or no deal O.J. Simpson will not have the public ear to tell about how the killing could have happened to Nicole Simpson and Ron Goldman. Fox has killed the interview and the promotion of the tentative titled book, If I Did it. The public desire to hear Simpson confess is on a road toward censorship. Let's hear the 1st amendment right folk, loud yelling now.
